A video recording device includes: a first imaging unit (in camera) arranged on a same face as that of a display unit of a casing of the device; a second imaging unit (out camera) arranged on a face different from that of the display unit of the casing of the device; and an audio input unit that inputs a command voice giving an instruction for recording a video signal. A control unit sets a delay time until start of a recording process performed by the recording unit after input of the command voice to be different in accordance with the enabled imaging unit and sets a delay time of a case where the first imaging unit is enabled to be longer than a delay time of a case where the second imaging unit is enabled.

Video recording device and camera function control program

A video recording device () includes: a first imaging unit () (in camera) arranged on a same face as that of a display unit () of a casing of the device; a second imaging unit () (out camera) arranged on a face different from that of the display unit of the casing of the device; and an audio input unit () that inputs a command voice giving an instruction for recording a video signal. A display apparatus, that can prevent thermal destruction and burning with a simple structure, has been disclosed. In the apparatus it is judged that there is possibility of a pattern, whose area with high brightness is small, being displayed frequently, when a state in which the total light emission pulse number remains large occurs with high frequency, and if such a state is detected, the total light emission pulse number (sustain frequency) is reduced to prevent the thermal destruction and burning.

Display apparatus

Provided is a technique of a PDP device capable of preventing error display arising from changes in discharge characteristics in a reset period particularly due to a long-period operation. In the PDP device, a slope of a slope waveform in the reset period is changed corresponding to operation time of the PDP device. And, the slope waveform is made to have a configuration having a stepwise plurality of slopes in a predetermined reset period. For example, when the operation time becomes long, rising and falling slope waveforms of a reset waveform are configured by two steps, and a first slope thereof is made steeper than a slope before the change, and a second slope is made gentle than the slope before the change. When the operation become longer, the first slope is made further steeper and the subsequent second slope is made further gentler.

Plasma display device and plasma display panel drive method

This invention is directed to a technique capable of achieving image quality improvement by the control of reset thinning drive (second drive) in a PDP drive control and of restricting or reducing the generation of hunting in ON/OFF control of the second drive and flickering of background luminance particularly in the case of low-luminance display. In this PDP apparatus, in addition to the control of the second drive using the SF load ratio, the APL value (k) and APL variation value (q) of the field are used, and when the APL variation value (q) is less than a predetermined threshold value, even when the SF load ratio is changed from zero to a value other than zero between SFs, the execution of the first drive is not started, and the execution of the second drive is continued.

Plasma display apparatus with driving and controlling circuit unit

In the PDP device, for example, two types of SF lighting patterns (A and B modes) are equally divided and arranged in spatially different regions in a field. For example, the patterns are arranged in a zigzag manner in units of pixels. At all lighting steps, existence of an absence of light-on SF which becomes a cause of false contour is permitted only in one mode. Accordingly, a generation rate of absence of light-on SF per field when the modes are combined is low, and the level of false contour can be reduced. Further, the spatial arrangement of each mode is optionally changed among the fields.

Method for grayscale display processing for multi-grayscale display to reduce false contours in a plasma display device

According to the present invention, a plasma display apparatus, which represents the luminance of one frame in accordance with a combination of plural sub-frames having luminance levels corresponding to a plurality of weighted values, additionally includes a sub-frame having a luminance level lower than the minimum gray scale level of luminance which can be represented by the number of bits in the input video data. Such plasma display apparatus turns on a desired combination of the sub-frames so as to increase the resolution of the luminance without increasing the conventional number of gray scale levels included in the input video data. In a preferred embodiment, especially when the added smaller luminance sub-frame is included in a combination of sub-frames for a low luminance area, the resolution of the gray scale of the low luminance area can be increased, and the representation of gray scale can be enhanced in a low luminance area to which the sight of a person is more sensitive.

Plasma display apparatus

The method of driving a display apparatus, in which the gradation scale is represented, by the subfield method, with less flicker even when driven at a frequency of 50 Hz has been disclosed. In this method, the two most weighted subfields (subfields of Bn brightness and Bn&#x2212;1 brightness when it is assumed that the frame is composed of n subfields and the brightness of n subfields is Bi (i=1&#x2212;n; B&#x2266;B. . . Bn&#x2212;1&#x2266;Bn)) are arranged at the interval of about half the length of the frame. Because of this, there exist two peaks of the light emission intensity in a frame, the interval being about half the length of the frame, and if the display apparatus is driven at a frequency of 50 Hz and the length of the frame is 20 ms, the variation period of the light emission intensity is 10 ms and the light emission intensity varies at 100 Hz, therefore, flicker is not detected.

Method of driving display apparatus and plasma display apparatus

In a PDP unit, a display frame for one screen comprises a plurality of sub-frames, the luminance of each of which is determined by a sustaining pulse number. A length of one frame is calculated from the length of one cycle of a vertical synchronization signal and a sub-frame condition determination circuit determines, from the length of one frame, the number of sub-frames, the luminance of each sub-frame and a total sustaining pulse number. A load factor is calculated from an external input signal. A further circuit determines a maximum display luminance from consumed power and calculates a luminance factor, and yet a further circuit corrects the luminance drop due to a load from the total sustaining pulse number, the luminance ratio and the load factor for the respective sub-frame and calculates sustaining pulse numbers for the respective sub-frames. Thereby, the sustaining pulse numbers of the respective sub-frames are determined through calculations using the total sustaining pulse number, the luminance ratio, the load factor and the consumed power rather than using a luminance table, simplifying construction of the PDP unit while performing more accurate calculations and thereby improving display quality and providing a stable display without flickering.

Plasma display unit

The present invention relates to a display device including an interface device, which can prevent from reducing a resolving power of gray scales for a dark picture signal is provided. The interface device according to the present invention is provided to prevent from decreasing a resolving power of luminance gray scales by setting a dynamic range of an analog digital converter according to a peak value of an analog picture signal. Further, a luminance control signal for determining a luminous level of the picture to be displayed is set according to the peak value of the analog picture signal. As the result, the interface device according to the present invention can generate a display signal displaying a picture having a sufficient resolving power of gray scales with a luminance (brightness) required for the darkness, even if a dark picture, of which analog picture signal is comparatively small, is generated.
