An automatic driving vehicle is running in an automatic driving mode effected by a driving control device. An operator is able to instruct via a SLOW DOWN button on a touch panel that the automatic driving vehicle is to be decelerated or stopped. Should any anomaly occur to the SLOW DOWN button, a message or the like is displayed on a touch panel to encourage operation of an emergency stop switch. When the operator operates the emergency stop switch, emergency stop control is executed.

A display control unit displays a background of a touch panel in a first color and does not display a button for starting autonomous driving on the touch panel when an autonomous driving vehicle is not permitted to travel in autonomous driving from a management center and displays the background of the touch panel in a second color different from the first color and displays an autonomous driving start button for starting the autonomous driving on the touch panel when the autonomous driving vehicle is permitted to travel in autonomous driving from the management center.

During a period from when an automated driving vehicle starts pulling over to a sidewalk side until the vehicle pulls over completely thereto, an operation control section causes the vehicle to immediately stop when an object that can be an obstacle exists in at least one of a middle front area, a sidewalk-side front area, and a sidewalk-side side area that are areas each within a predetermined distance at a middle front, at a sidewalk-side front, and on a sidewalk-side side of the vehicle, respectively. During the period, the operation control section does not cause the vehicle to stop when the object does not exist in any of the middle front area, the sidewalk-side front area, and the sidewalk-side side area, even when the object exists in an area surrounding the vehicle other than the middle front area, the sidewalk-side front area, and the sidewalk-side side area.

A control device for an automated driving vehicle has a first automated driving mode in which the automated driving vehicle, receiving a permission notice from an operations management controller, travels, according to automatic operation, along a controlled route managed by the operations management controller, in accordance with a traveling schedule provided from the operations management controller; and a second automated driving mode in which the automated driving vehicle travels, without a permission notice from the operations management controller, along a non-controlled route that is not managed by the operations management controller, according to automatic operation. The first automated driving mode and the second automated driving mode are switchable.

The present disclosure relates to control performed in a case where a vehicle is to turn right or left at an intersection. An autonomous vehicle is provided with a touch panel that enables an operator to input vehicle speed control instructions during an automatic driving mode and a mechanical operation unit for inputting driving control instructions. When the driving mode of the autonomous vehicle is the automatic driving mode or a semi-automatic driving mode, a driving control unit of the autonomous vehicle prioritizes a vehicle speed control instruction input from the touch panel over a vehicle speed control instruction input from the mechanical operation unit and executes vehicle speed control for the autonomous vehicle based on the prioritized instruction.
