A recording system includes a printer, a post-processing apparatus, and a first support to be mounted on a floor outside a mounting area of the printer. The printer includes a manual feed tray and an opening/closing portion each configured to be moved outward from a body of the printer to enable a process. The post-processing apparatus is located, in a Z direction, above the manual feed tray and the opening/closing portion that were moved. The first support supports the post-processing apparatus and forms a space in which the manual feed tray and the opening/closing portion are moved.

A maintenance operation can be executed by ejecting a liquid when a time measured with reference to displacement of a cap from a maintenance position to a separation position exceeds a defined time. Before start of a recording operation in a recording job, a first medium waits at a standby position where the medium can wait upstream of a liquid ejection head. The cap is located at the separation position when a first medium in the recording job is waiting at the standby position. During an initial control period, in parallel with the maintenance operation, a post-processing operation can be executed on a second number of media that is smaller than a first number of media, and a post-processing operation can be executed on the first number of media in parallel with the maintenance operation after end of the initial control period.

A post-processing unit is disposed so as to face the apparatus side surface of a printer that has a manual feed tray protruding from the apparatus side surface. The post-processing unit has an ejection tray, which is movably provided in a unit body and to which paper accepted from the printer is ejected. In an apparatus height direction crossing a direction in which paper is ejected, the ejection tray can be moved to a first position at which ejected paper can be mounted and to a second position at which part of paper mounted on the manual feed tray can be supported.

A recording system includes an ejecting unit, a punch unit, and a control unit. The ejecting unit ejects ink onto a sheet transported by a transport unit to form an image. A recording system includes an ejecting unit, a punch unit, and a control unit. The ejecting unit ejects ink onto a sheet transported by a transport unit to form an image. The punch unit forms a plurality of through holes in the sheet. The control unit controls an ejection amount per unit area of ink in the ejecting unit based on image data. Furthermore, the control unit divides a region into a first region not including the through hole, and a second region including the through hole, and controls an ejection amount of the ink in the ejecting unit such that a second ejection amount per unit area when an image is formed in the second region is less than a first ejection amount per unit area when an image is formed in the first region.

Provided are a placement table configured to place a medium onto which liquid is discharged, a perforation member configured to perform perforation by imparting a shear force to the medium placed at the placement table, a die hole provided at the placement table, a perforation member moving section configured to move the perforation member between a standby position above the die hole and a perforating position at which the perforation member enters the die hole, and a control unit configured to control operation of the perforation member moving section, wherein when the control unit obtains perforation failure information during perforating operation in which the perforation member starts moving from the standby position and moves through the perforating position to the standby position, the control unit is configured to control the perforation member moving section so that a shear force is again imparted to the medium.

An intermediate unit includes a transportation path provided with a drying unit that accelerates the drying of the medium. The transportation path includes an inlet path, an outlet path, a first branch path, a second branch path, a first junction path, a second junction path, a switch-back type inversion path with a first inversion path and a second inversion path. The first branch path and the second branch path which branch off at a branch point from the inlet path. The first junction path and the second junction path and the outlet path join each other at a junction point. The first branch path and the first junction path and the first inversion path join each other at a first connection point. A discharging device includes: a pair of medium supporting portions that are provided so as to face each other in a width direction intersecting a transporting direction in which a medium is transported and that support the medium that is transported; and a stacking portion that is provided vertically below the pair of medium supporting portions and on which the medium that drops from the pair of medium supporting portions is stacked, each of the pair of medium supporting portions is configured to move in the width direction, the pair of medium supporting portions are configured to be arranged, after the medium is dropped onto the stacking portion, at positions at which a distance in the width direction becomes a predetermined distance, and the predetermined distance varies in accordance with a width of the medium stacked on the stacking portion.

Discharging device, processing apparatus, and recording system

The transporting device includes a transporting path on which a medium recorded by the recording portion is transported in a transporting direction, and a contact portion that comes in contact with a front end of the medium, which is transported through the transporting path, to adjust a transporting state of the medium is adjusted. The transporting path has a guide portion that guides the medium to be transported to the contact portion, the guide portion has a first guide portion that is configured to swing, and a second guide portion that faces the first guide portion and is configured to swing, and the first guide portion and the second guide portion are disposed at a standby position when the medium is not transported through the transporting path, and are configured to move in directions away from each other from the standby position.
