A communication apparatus according to the present invention comprises a transmitter for generating and transmitting a data signal where data is superposed as time length of a pulse interval, and a receiver for receiving the data signal. The transmitter and the receiver are connected through a single communication line. The receiver comprises: a receiver-side oscillator circuit for oscillating a reference pulse as a count reference of the data signal; a counter circuit for counting a pulse interval of the received data signal by converting it to a reference pulse number of the oscillator circuit; and a comparator circuit stores a first reference value therein, and judges data of the data signal by comparing the pulse interval of the data signal counted by the counter circuit with the first reference value.

Communication apparatus

In a single-wire data communication characterized in that a data communication unit time is different in accordance with the polarity of a signal, a communication control time is dependent on a communication data pattern, and hence, the control of the whole system is difficult. A counter for counting a clock continues the counting until a count value thereby obtained reaches a predetermined upper limit value, retains the predetermined upper limit value as the count value until a next pulse is detected in a reception signal after the count value reaches the predetermined upper limit value, and initializes the count value when the next pulse is detected. A program recording apparatus has a program information input device, a program recording setting device, a recording device for writing to, or erasing from a recording medium, and a management device. When the program recording setting device sets the recording of a program, the management device predicts whether there is a shortage of vacant space in the recording medium.
