A magnetic disk device includes a casing having a box-like base that has a bottom wall and a cover that has a first surface facing the bottom wall, a magnetic disk provided in the casing, a head configured to write data to the magnetic disk and to read data from the magnetic disk, an actuator assembly that supports the head in the casing, a conductive container on the first surface of the cover, and a conductive body in contact with the conductive container and the cover.

A disk apparatus includes a casing, a rotatable disk recording medium that is disposed within the casing, a head configured to process information with respect to the recording medium, an actuator assembly that is disposed within the casing and that movably supports the head, and a filter unit that is disposed within the casing. The filter unit includes a base section fixed to an inner surface of the casing, a holding frame coupled to the base, and a collection filter detachably held in place by the holding frame.

A suspension device including a flexure with conductors is provided with an anti-ESD section. The anti-ESD section includes a metal plate, a insulating layer, a first electrically conductive member formed of a pair of read conductors, a second electrically conductive member formed of a pair of write conductors, a heater conductor, semiconductive layers, etc. The semiconductive layers are grounded to the metal plate and electrically isolated from one another by an insulating portion.

Suspension device

The tip end of the bonding tip is defined between first and second edges. A first inclined surface gets remoter from a first terminal at a position remoter from the first edge. The second inclined surface likewise gets remoter from the first terminal at a position remoter from the second edge. The solder is contoured by first and second contours on the first terminal. The second terminal is located on the solder between the first and second contours. The tip end of the bonding tip is urged against the second terminal. Heat is transferred from the bonding tip to the solder. The melted solder spreads into gaps between the second terminal and the first and second inclined surfaces. The solder is thus prevented from spreading outside the contour of the first terminal. This results in a reliable avoidance of a short circuit between the adjacent first terminals.

Method of bonding terminal

A recording medium drive such as a hard disk drive includes a ramp member. The ramp member receives the tip end of a head actuator. A head slider is thus kept at a position spaced from the recording medium even when the recording medium stands still. A rectifier plate is formed on the ramp member and opposed to the surface of the recording medium at a distance. The rectifier plate serves to sufficiently suppress turbulence of airflow generated along the surface of the rotating recording medium. The suppression of the turbulence in this manner leads to prevention of oscillation of the head slider. The head slider can thus be positioned right at a target point at a higher accuracy. The recording medium drive of the type is capable of greatly contributing to a higher recording density.

The present invention relates to a storage device in which information is written and read using a head movable relative to a rotating disk medium encased in a housing. The housing has a base and a cover. Openings formed by a predetermined number of radial beams are provided in at least one of the cover and the base. Preferably, the beams extend between the periphery and a central area of the device.

For a balance adjustment due to a reduction in size and weight of an actuator, an arm portion, an axis attaching portion, and a coil supporting portion are arranged so that the centers of gravity on the coil side are located on a straight line connecting a rotational center and the center of gravity on the head side. Further, the improvement of an assembling efficiency of a VCM, an increase in torque, a one-touch fixing of an FPC connecting band, a noise prevention of a read pattern, and an insulation between the base and cover due to a bias of an MR read head are accomplished. A sector mark is detected by comparing a peak detection pulse and its reference polarity signal. A redundancy is provided to a reference detection polarity signal so that a read signal can be detected even if any one of the read signals of the sector marks is dropped out. A gray code detecting section for recognizing a cylinder address also detects on the basis of a peak detection pulse and a polarity signal due to the reading of a gray code. A memory space to store a program is divided into an ROM space of a small electric power consumption and an RAM space of a large electric power consumption and stores each peculiar program.
