According to an aspect, a display device includes: a display panel having a display region configured to output an image; a light source configured to emit light toward one surface side of the display panel; a liquid crystal panel interposed between the display panel and the light source and provided to be able to change a transmission degree of light between the display panel and the light source; a signal generator coupled to two electrodes facing each other with liquid crystal interposed between the electrodes in the liquid crystal panel and configured to provide an individual electric signal to each of the two electrodes; and a signal sensor coupled to the two electrodes and configured to individually sense the electric signals provided to the two electrodes.

According to an aspect, a display device includes: a display panel having a display region configured to output an image; a light source configured to emit light toward one surface side of the display panel; a liquid crystal panel interposed between the display panel and the light source and provided to be able to change a transmission degree of light between the display panel and the light source; a temperature detector configured to detect temperature of at least one of the display panel and the liquid crystal panel; and a controller configured to adjust color to be reproduced by the display panel in accordance with the temperature detected by the temperature detector.

A display device includes: a display panel; a light source configured to emit light toward one surface side of the display panel; a liquid crystal panel interposed between the display panel and the light source and provided to be able to change a transmission degree of light between the display panel and the light source; and a controller configured to control a potential difference between two electrodes facing each other with liquid crystal interposed therebetween. The liquid crystal panel in operation is makes a transmission degree of light tilted toward one side in a longitudinal direction of the display panel in a rectangular shape and a transmission degree of light tilted toward the other side in the longitudinal direction to be different from each other. The potential difference corresponds to an angle of tilt with a smaller transmission degree of light when the liquid crystal panel is in operation.

According to an aspect, an electro-optical device includes: a first substrate; a first electrode disposed on the first substrate; a second substrate disposed facing the first substrate; a second electrode disposed on the second substrate and facing the first electrode; and a liquid crystal layer provided between the first electrode and the second electrode. The second electrode includes a plurality of divided electrodes arranged in a first direction. Two divided electrodes adjacent to each other among the divided electrodes are disposed with a slit interposed between the two divided electrodes.

According to an aspect, a display device includes: a substrate having a display region; and a plurality of temperature detection wiring lines each having a conductive thin wiring line arranged at a position overlapping with the display region in plan view. A light shielding layer is arranged so as to extend in a first direction in the display region, and the conductive thin wiring line is arranged at a position overlapping with the light shielding layer and extends in the first direction along the light shielding layer in plan view.

A display device includes a display panel, and a front panel overlapping with the display panel. The front panel includes a first substrate, and a second substrate located on an opposite side of the first substrate with respect to the display panel, the front panel has an active region capable of being switched between a display state in which an image is displayed and a reflection state in which a reflected image is provided, and a frame region around the active region, and a metal layer is arranged in the frame region of the second substrate.

According to an aspect, a display device includes: a display panel having a display area including pixels; a light source device configured to emit light from an emission area overlapping the display area toward the display panel; a dimming panel between the display panel and the light source device and configured to adjust brightness of emission light emitted from the emission area; and a drive circuit configured to drive the dimming panel. The emission area has a first emission area and a second emission area. The drive circuit is configured to, when gradation values of first pixels corresponding to the first emission area are equal to gradation values of second pixels corresponding to the second emission area, make transmittance of a second dimming area corresponding to the second pixels higher than that of a first dimming area corresponding to the first pixels in the dimming area.

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first display panel, a second display panel and an adhesive layer which adheres the first and second display panels. The first display panel includes a first scanning line, a first signal line, a first pixel electrically connected to the first scanning line and the first signal line, and the first pixel includes a first pixel electrode including first line portions extending parallel to the first signal line. The second display panel includes a second scanning line, a second signal line, and a second pixel electrically connected to the second scanning line and the second signal line, and the second pixel includes a second pixel electrode including second line portions intersecting the second signal line in plan view.

The display device includes a display panel and a front surface panel that is superimposed with the display panel, and that is switched between a reflective state in which incident light is reflected and a transmissive state in which incident light is transmitted. The front surface panel can detect presence of an object to be detected.

A display device including optical sheet configured to transmit light linearly polarized in first polarization direction; first polarization member configured to absorb light linearly polarized in second polarization direction orthogonal to first polarization direction; front panel disposed between first polarization member and optical sheet, wherein optical sheet is disposed between front panel and display panel, and azimuth at which highest reflectance is obtained in reflective state in which incident light is reflected is azimuth at which highest transmittance is obtained in transmissive state in which incident light is transmitted.
