The liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel including a display area for displaying images and a non-display area other than the display area, a rigid board configured to connect with an external signal source, and a flexible board. The liquid crystal panel and the flexible board are arranged in a first direction. A direction perpendicular to the first direction and along a plate surface of the liquid crystal panel is a second direction. The flexible board is larger in a dimension in the second direction than the rigid board, and includes an end portion including at least an outer portion located outside of the rigid board in the second direction, and a middle portion located about a middle of the flexible board with respect to the end portion in the second direction. The end portion is larger in dimension in the first direction than the middle portion.

Display device

Dissipation of heat generated by a luminescent source, such as a fluorescent lamp, of a backlight apparatus and an LCD therewith is enhanced by providing a proximity section in a holder, making the hottest part the closest to the holder for efficient heat conduction.

Backlight apparatus, and a liquid crystal display (LCD) therewith

The liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal panel, a light guiding plate for illuminating the liquid crystal panel, a bezel covering a periphery of the liquid crystal panel, a frame on which the liquid crystal panel is mounted, a screw for securing a side wall of the bezel to the frame, and a rear cover having a portion which extends from a back side of the light guiding plate beyond the position of the screw and which has a hole through which the screw passes. A portion of the side surface fixing mechanism in the vicinity of the fixing screw is reinforced by the portion of the rear cover which is coupled with the side wall of the bezel and the side wall of the frame.

Liquid crystal display device with reinforced side

A liquid crystal display device irradiates a light of a light source from a backside of a liquid crystal panel. A light-guiding plate provided under the liquid crystal panel guides the light of the light source to the liquid crystal panel by transmitting the light therethrough. An optical sheet is arranged between the liquid crystal panel and the light-guiding plate. A backlight housing accommodates the light-guiding plate and the optical sheet. The optical sheet has a protruding part extending outwardly from a periphery thereof. The backlight housing has an opening at a position corresponding to the protruding part.

Liquid crystal display device equipped with an improved backlight device

The present invention provides a backlight device that has a heat-generating light source, such as a fluorescent tube. This backlight device includes; fluorescent tubes that emit light when power is supplied to the fluorescent tube electrodes; and a light guide plate that guides the light emitted from the fluorescent tubes to a liquid crystal panel. In this backlight device, heat release members for releasing the heat from the fluorescent tube electrodes are provided at the corners of the light guide plate that face the fluorescent tube electrodes of the fluorescent tubes. With these heat release members, the light guide plate is prevented from melting.

Backlight device

The display apparatus has a common substrate and a TFT substrate, and a flexible printed board is attached to the TFT substrate. ICs are arranged in an area of the TFT substrate in a row along an alignment direction, and connection terminals are arranged in that area by the shorter sides of the ICs along the alignment direction of the ICs. The flexible printed board and ICs can be fitted to the TFT substrate, by an anisotropic electro-conductive film, using a thermo-compression bonding head or heads.

Matrix type display apparatus, method of production thereof, and thermo-compression bonding head

A display has a display panel of a first aspect ratio and is able to display on the display panel an image of a second aspect ratio whose width element is larger than that of the first aspect ratio. The display has a gate driver, a data driver, and a timing controller. The gate driver sequentially selects gate lines of the display panel. The data driver stores data for one gate line and supplies the data to one of the gate lines selected by the gate driver. The timing controller supplies control signals to the gate and data drivers so that predetermined data is displayed in top and bottom non-image areas of the display panel during a vertical blanking period. The display is capable of displaying images of different sizes.

Display and method of and drive circuit for driving the display

A driving circuit for a matrix-type panel includes a control circuit which causes image data to be supplied to the matrix-type panel when a synchronization between the image data and an operation of the matrix-type panel is established after a supply of a given timing signal necessary for an operation of the control circuit is stopped and is then restarted.

A method of forming a laminated glass substrate structure suitable for use in a display device or the like, includes the steps of: a) preparing a first glass substrate having first and second main faces; b) preparing a second glass substrate having third and fourth main faces; c) after the steps a) and b), adhering the first and second glass substrates with a space formed therebetween and with the third main face facing to the second main face; and d) after the step c), performing a smoothing process relative to all edges excepting one edge among edges defining the first main face. The laminated glass substrate structure provides an improved load resistance.

Laminated glass substrate structure and its manufacture

A flexible printed circuit having wiring patterns printed on a flexible resin film, comprising a narrow flexible area having first wiring patterns and constituting a flexible wiring part and a broad connection area adapted to be adhered to a main board and having second wiring patterns connected to the first wiring patterns and adapted to be electrically connected to wiring patterns on the main board. The second wiring patterns serve to electrically connect the first wiring patterns of the flexible wiring part to the wiring patterns on the main board. Also included is a conductive adhesion surface formed on the broad connection area along a side of the main board, having a width larger than a width of the first wiring patterns, and extending from an inside of a region to an outside thereof. The region is defined in the broad connection area by extending a boundary of the flexible area into the broad connection area. A flexible printed circuit can be provided which has a high peel-off resistance to an applied stress.

A display device includes a display panel having display pixels arranged in matrix formation. A first driver circuit sequentially supplies image data to vertical lines of the display panel in synchronism with a first clock signal. A second driver circuit sequentially drives horizontal lines in synchronism with a second clock signal. A control circuit controls a drive timing at which the second driver circuit sequentially drives the horizontal lines so that identical image data equal to one horizontal line is supplied, from the first driver circuit in synchronism with the first clock signal, to two consecutive horizontal lines every N horizontal lines (N is an integer) in accordance with an enlargement ratio at which an image is enlarged in a vertical direction and is displayed on the display panel.
