The present invention provides a heat-sensitive recording material comprising a substrate and a heat-sensitive recording layer provided thereon, the layer comprising a color forming system that combines an electron-donating colorless dye and an electron-accepting compound, in which the electron-accepting compound is a compound represented by the formula R-Ph-SOR(wherein Rrepresents a hydroxyl group or an alkyl group, Rrepresents -Ph, &#x2014;NH-Ph, -Ph-ORor &#x2014;NH&#x2014;CO&#x2014;NH-Ph, Rrepresents an alkyl group, and Ph represents a phenyl group), and at least the heat-sensitive recording layer is formed by curtain-coating a coating solution for the heat-sensitive recording layer.

Thermal recording material

A thermal recording material having a support and, formed thereon, a thermal coloring layer containing an electron donating colorless dye and an electron accepting compound, wherein the electron accepting compound comprises 4-hydroxybenzenesulfoneanilide and the support comprises a used paper pulp as a primary component; the thermal recording material which further comprises at least one of calcium carbonate of calcite type, amorphous silica and aluminum hydroxide as an inorganic pigment; and the thermal recording material wherein the electron donating colorless dye comprises a specific colorless dye and the recording material is formed through the use of a liquid pigment dispersion having a pH of 7 to 10.

A thermosensitive recording material of the present invention has a thermosensitive color developing layer on a support, and the thermosensitive color developing layer contains at least an electron-donating colorless dye and 4-hydroxybenzenesulfone anilide as an electron-accepting compound. The thermosensitive recording material of the invention meets any one of the following conditions: the thermosensitive recording surface of the thermosensitive recording material has an Oken smoothness of at least 300 seconds; 1,1,3-tris(2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-tert-butylphenyl)-butane and/or 1,1,3-tris(2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-cyclohexyl-phenyl)butane is contained as an image stabilizer; at least one selected from 2-anilino-3-methyl-6-di-n-butylaminofluorane and 2-anilino-3-methyl-6-di-n-amylaminofluorane is contained as the electron-donating colorless dye; a sensitizer and 2-anilino-3-methyl-6-(N-ethyl-N-p-benzyl)aminofluorane as the electron-donating colorless dye are contained; and the image stabilizer and at least one selected from 2-anilino-3-methyl-6-di-n-butylaminofluorane, 2-anilino-3-methyl-6-di-n-amylaminofluorane, and 2-anilino-3-methyl-6-(N-ethyl-N-p-benzyl)aminofluorane as the electron-donating colorless dye are contained.

Thermosensitive recording material

(B) A thermosensitive recording material comprises a thermosensitive recording layer containing an electron-donating colorless dye, an electron-accepting compound which develops color upon a reaction with the electron-donating colorless dye and a sensitizer, wherein the thermosensitive recording material satisfies at least one of the following conditions (1) to (3).

Heat-sensitive recording material

A heat-sensitive recording material includes a support having successively disposed thereon: a heat-sensitive color-forming layer containing an electron-donating colorless dye and an electron-accepting compound; and a protective layer; wherein the heat-sensitive color-forming layer contains a water-soluble polymer and 4-hydroxybenzenesulfonanilide as the electron-accepting compound, and the protective layer contains at least one inorganic pigment selected from aluminum hydroxide, kaolin and amorphous silica. The electron-donating colorless dye is preferably at least one selected from 2-anilino-3-methyl-6-di-n-butylaminofluoran, 2-anilino-3-methyl-6-di-n-amylaminofluoran and 2-anilino-3-methyl-6-(N-ethyl-N-p-benzyl)aminofluoran.

A heat-sensitive recording material including, on a support, a heat-sensitive color-developable layer containing an electron-donating colorless dye and an electron-accepting compound, wherein the electron-accepting compound contains a compound represented by R&#x2014;Ph&#x2014;SOR, and an adhesive strength when an adhesive sheet such as a revenue stamp is affixed to a recording face of a heat-sensitive recording paper made of the heat-sensitive recording material is larger than a given value, and a center line average roughness Ra75 of the heat-sensitive recording face is 2.0 &#x3bc;m or less.

A heat-sensitive recording material includes a support having disposed thereon a heat-sensitive color-forming layer that includes an electron-donating leuco-dye, an electron-receiving compound and an UV absorbent, wherein the layer contains 4-hydroxybenzenesulfonanilide as the electron-receiving compound. Because the layer includes 4-hydroxybenzenesulfonanilide, the heat-sensitive recording material has high sensitivity and improved image preservability, chemical resistance and sticking resistance.

A thermal recording material having a thermal color-forming layer which contains an electron-donating leuco-dye and an electron-receiving compound, and a protective layer formed in that order on a support. The protective layer of the material contains an inorganic dye and at least one of an amide-denatured polyvinyl alcohol and a diacetone-denatured polyvinyl alcohol.

The present invention provides a heat sensitive recording material which has high sensitivity and high degree of color formation, excellent storage stability in image portions and non-image portions (i.e., background portions), high whiteness in background portions, and can stably maintain a high contrast image for a long period of time. The heat sensitive recording material has, on a support, a heat sensitive color-forming layer having an electron donating colorless dye and an electron accepting compound. At least one type of the electron accepting compound is 2,4-bis(phenylsulfonyl) phenol, and the heat sensitive color-forming layer further has 2-naphthylbenzyl ether and an amide compound as thermally fusible substances.

Heat sensitive recording material

A heat-sensitive recording material which includes, on a substrate, at least one heat-sensitive color developing layer containing an electron-donating colorless dye, 2,4-bis(phenylsulfonyl)phenol as an electron-accepting compound, and a sulfonic acid-modified polyvinyl alcohol and at least one modified polyvinyl alcohol other than the sulfonic acid-modified polyvinyl alcohol as binders, an outermost layer of the heat-sensitive recording material containing a lubricant.

A heat-sensitive recording material comprising a substrate and a heat-sensitive coloring layer containing a colorless electron-donating dye, an electron-accepting compound including at least 4,4&prime;-dihydroxydiphenylsulfone, and a sensitizer comprising 2-benzyloxynaphthalene and aliphatic monoamide in the mass ratio in a range of 30/70 to 70/30.

A heat-sensitive recording material in which a heat-sensitive color-developing layer containing at least an electron-donating colorless dye, an electron-accepting compound, a sensitizer and preferably an image stabilizer is disposed on a support, the heat-sensitive color-developing layer containing (1) 4-hydroxybenzenesulfonanilide as the electron-accepting compound and (2) 2-benzyloxynaphthalene and ethylenebisstearic acid amide or methylolstearic acid amide as the sensitizer, and (3) the 2-benzyloxynaphthalene (x) to ethylenebisstearic acid amide or methylolstearic acid amide (y) mass ratio (x/y) being within 95/5 to 40/60 range.

A heat-sensitive recording material formed of a support having disposed thereon a heat-sensitive color-forming layer that includes an electron-donating leuco-dye and an electron-receiving compound, with the heat-sensitive color-forming layer including, N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-p-toluenesulfonamide as the electron-donating leuco-dye. The heat-sensitive color-forming layer may include 2-benzyloxynaphthalene or a combination of 2-benzyloxynaphthalene and methylolstearic acid amide as a sensitizer, calcite-type precipitated calcium carbonate light and/or aluminium hydroxide as an inorganic pigment, polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of saponification of 85 to 99 mol % and a degree of polymerization of from 200 to 2000 as an adhesive, and 1,1,3-tris(2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-tert-butylphenyl)butane and/or 1,1,3-tris(2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-cyclohexylphenyl)butane as an image stabilizer. When the layer includes 2-benzyloxynaphthalene and methylolstearic acid amide, a ratio (x/y) of 2-benzyloxynaphthalene (x) to methylolstearic acid amide (y) is preferably 95/5 to 40/60. The support can be essentially waste pulp. The heat-sensitive recording material of the present invention may additionally include a protective layer including an inorganic pigment and a water-soluble polymer.

A thermosensitive recording material which comprises a support having a low Streckigt sizing degree, an undercoat layer comprising an oil absorbable pigment and a carboxymethyl cellulose, and a thermosensitive recording layer coated on the undercoat layer. The thermosensitive recording material of this invention can be used in a high speed recording system, since it has a high sensitivity, a high image quality and a low capacity to adhere stain to a thermal head, and these advantages can be improved further by adding an appropriate amount of paraffin wax to the undercoat layer. The thermosensitive recording material can be produced economically because a low cost material having a low Steckigt degree can be used as the support.

A novel heat-sensitive recording material comprising a support having coated thereon a heat-sensitive coloring layer containing a colorless or light-colored electron donor dye precursor and an electron acceptor compound which colors upon reaction with said electron donor dye precursor and a protective alyer coated on the heat-sensitive coloring layer comprising a saponified product of a vinyl acetate-acrylamide copolymer or vinyl acetate-methacrylamide copolymer having an acrylamide or methacrylamide content of about 0.5 to about 80% by weight.
