A switching circuit for supplying electric power to a load from a power source includes a first relay device having a first switch and a semiconductor switching element connected in series with the first switch, power source and load. A second relay device is provided which is defined by a second switch connected parallelly to the semiconductor switching element and an actuating switch for enabling and disabling the semiconductor switching element. The second relay device is so arranged as to effect the make of the actuating switch and second switch in said order and to effect the break of the same in the opposite order. A delay circuit is provided for controlling the first and second relay devices such that when supplying a current to the load, the first and second relay devices are turned on in said order so that the first switch, the actuating switch and the second switch are turned on in said order. And, when cutting off the current to the load, the first switch, the actuating switch and the second switch are turned off in the opposite order.

Switching current and a relay device employed therein

This low profile electromagnetic relay includes a base and a support post protruding at one end of the base. An electromagnet assembly is mounted in a generally central position on the base, and has a pair of magnetic pole surfaces on opposite sides of its one end. An armature assembly includes an insulating armature member, shaped generally as a hollow rectangular member with an open space being defined within it and formed with a hole by which it is rotatably fitted over the support post with the electromagnet assembly fitting inside the open space defined within it. A drive portion is connected to the insulating armature member. A pair of mutually opposed armature pieces are mounted on the insulating armature member, and, when the insulating armature member is rotatably fitted over the support post, lie on opposite sides of the one end of the electromagnet assembly and each oppose one of the magnetic pole surfaces of the electromagnet assembly. A permanent magnet member is mounted so as to bridge between the pair of mutually opposed armature pieces. And a contact mechanism is fitted to the base and is driven by the drive portion of the insulating armature member. Thereby the height of the relay is minimized, and the stability of its action is assured.

Low profile electromagnetic relay to printed circuit board

In this mounting structure and method for a surface mounted type electronic component, the component has at least one terminal which protrudes from its bottom surface and which terminates in a foot portion for being soldered to a printed circuit board. Also, a projection extends from this bottom surface of the electronic component for a distance somewhat less than the amounty by which the terminal projects from it. This projection is provisionally secured by adhesive to the printed circuit board with the foot portion of the terminal overlaying that circuit portion to which it is to be soldered, and then subsequently this terminal foot portion is soldered to this circuit portion. Thereby, during the soldering process, there is no risk of the terminal foot portion becoming displaced from the circuit portion and thus badly soldered thereto, because of the locating action of the adhered projection. The projection may extend from a central portion of the bottom surface of the component, or may be provided in plurality as extending from central portions of edges of said bottom surface. And the end of the projection may be roughened.

Switching circuit and a relay device employed to prevent arcing

A polarized relay with an electromagnetic drive comprises an electromagnetic yoke composed of a core wound with a coil and a yoke body, and having one end portion of one magnetic polarity and a pair of bifurcated end portions of the other magnetic polarity opposite to the one magnetic polarity. The bifurcated end portions are separated in opposition from each other. The one end portion of the yoke is disposed between the bifurcated end portions so as to cooperate to form a pair of working gaps. A movable block of a substantially C-like configuration incorporating a permanent magnet has two magnetic pole pieces which are disposed within the working gaps, respectively. Guide is provided for guiding the movable block in response to energization and deenergization of the coil so that the pole pieces are movable within the respective working gaps. A contact mechanism including movable contacts is mechanically coupled to the movable block to make or break circuit.

Electromagnetic drive and polarized relay

A polarized electromagnetic relay apparatus for assembling a coil spool with a terminal carrying base plate is disclosed. The coil spool assembly has a front collar with a projecting piece. The projecting piece is adapted to engage with a latch hole in the terminal carrying base plate. The terminal carrying base plate has jaw-like, offset portions which engage with supporting offset portions formed in the rear collar of the coil spool assembly. The flexible projecting pieces may be of deformable material in order to easily engage with the latch hole of the base plate. The flexible projecting pieces can be tapered, also to facilitate engagement with the base plate latch hole. A terminal holder is formed on the rear collar of the coil spool assembly and is adapted to receive terminals from the coil. The terminal holder comprises the supporting offset portions which engage with the jaw-like offset portions of the base plate. The terminal holder is of a greater thickness than the base plate.

A flat pack type electromagnetic relay having a bracket-shaped stationary core and a bracket-shaped armature is disclosed. The core is provided with a spool for an energizing coil and the spool has engaging portions extending from its end flanges. The armature is pivotally supported by the engaging portions to close or open electrical contacts in response to a current applied to the coil.
