A measuring apparatus including a timing jitter estimator which estimates an output timing jitter sequence which indicates the output timing jitter of an output signal based on an output signal output from a DUT in response to an input signal input to the DUT, and a jitter transfer function estimator which estimates a jitter transfer function in the DUT based on the output timing jitter sequence. The jitter transfer function estimator includes an instantaneous phase noise estimator which estimates an instant phase noise of the output signal based on an output signal, and a resampler which generates the output timing jitter sequence by resampling the instantaneous phase noise at predetermined timing.

Measuring apparatus and measuring method

A measuring apparatus is provided that includes: a timing jitter calculator for calculating the first timing jitter sequence of the first signal and the second timing jitter sequence of the second signal; and a jitter transfer function estimator for calculating a jitter transfer function between the first and second signals based on frequency components of the first and second timing jitter sequences. The jitter transfer function estimator calculates the jitter transfer function, for a plurality of frequency component pairs each of which is formed by a frequency component of a timing jitter in the first timing jitter sequence and a frequency component of a timing jitter in the second timing jitter sequence which correspond to approximately equal frequencies, based on frequency component ratios of the timing jitters in the first and second timing jitter sequences.

A frequency spectrum analyzer having an improved carrier to noise ration for analyzing frequency spectrum of an input signal. The spectrum analyzer includes a first frequency converter formed of a first frequency mixer, a first IF (intermediate frequency) filter and a first local signal oscillator; a second frequency converter; a third frequency converter formed of a third frequency mixer, a third IF filter and a third local signal oscillator; a frequency divider for diving a frequency of the first local signal by a factor of N; a frequency multiplier for multiplying a frequency of the third local signal; a fourth frequency mixer which is provided with a divided frequency signal from the frequency divider as a fourth local signal; and a fifth frequency mixer which mixes the input signal to be analyzed and a multiplied frequency signal from the frequency multiplier as a fifth local signal and provides a frequency converted input signal to the fourth frequency mixer; where the fourth frequency mixer mixes the fourth local signal and the frequency converted input signal and provides a resultant IF signal to the third frequency converter.

The spectrum analyzer includes a first frequency converter formed of a first frequency mixer, a first IF (intermediate frequency) filter and a first local signal oscillator; a second frequency converter; a third frequency converter formed of a third frequency mixer, a third IF filter and a third local signal oscillator; a frequency divider for dividing a frequency of the first local signal by a factor of N; a frequency multiplier for multiplying a frequency of the third local signal; a fourth frequency mixer which is provided with a divided frequency signal from the frequency divider as a fourth local signal; and a fifth frequency mixer which mixes the input signal to be analyzed and a multiplied frequency signal from the frequency multiplier as a fifth local signal and provides a frequency converted input signal to the fourth frequency mixer; where the fourth frequency mixer mixes the fourth local signal and the frequency converted input signal and provides a resultant IF signal to the third frequency converter.
