A light source device of the present disclosure includes a light source, a wavelength conversion element having a fluorescent material that a light output from the light source enters and a supporting substrate that supports the fluorescent material, an optical element guiding the light output from the light source to the fluorescent material, a holding member holding the optical element, and a housing part providing a housing space in an optical path of the light output from the light source and housing at least the optical element and the holding member in the housing space, wherein the supporting substrate is fixed to the holding member, the holding member is fixed to the housing part, and an elastic member is provided between the supporting substrate and the holding member.

A light source apparatus includes a light source section that includes a plurality of light emitting devices and outputs excitation light, a wavelength conversion element including a wavelength conversion layer having a rectangular light incident surface on which the excitation light outputted from the light source section is incident, a lens group that causes the excitation light to be incident on the light incident surface in such a way that an irradiation area irradiated with the excitation light has a rectangular shape on the light incident surface, and an adjuster that adjusts the position of the irradiation area relative to the position of the light incident surface by using a pivotal action around a first axis of rotation extending in a first direction perpendicular to the light incident surface.

A light source device according to the invention includes a light source configured to emit blue light having a wavelength band of 37 nm or less and a diffusion element configured to diffuse the light emitted from the light source. An electrooptical device of a projection display device includes a first driving element and a second driving element. A polarization controller adapted to output respective projection lights for a right-eye image and a left-eye image that are incident from a projector to a screen in different polarization directions, includes: a liquid crystal device adapted to change the polarization directions of the projection lights; and a controller adapted to control the liquid crystal device so that the respective projection lights for the right-eye image and the left-eye image have different polarization directions, wherein the controller performs control for mirror-reversing the polarization directions of the projection lights in the liquid crystal device according to a control signal indicating whether the projector performs mirror reversal of the right-eye image and the left-eye image, input from the projector.

A projector includes: a lighting device which emits illumination light; a liquid crystal panel which modulates the illumination light emitted from the lighting device according to image information; a projection system which projects light modulated by the liquid crystal panel; a polarization plate which is disposed at least either on the light incident side or the light exit side of the liquid crystal panel and has at least a polarization layer; a liquid crystal panel side light-transmissive substrate affixed to the liquid crystal panel side surface of the polarization plate and made of inorganic material; and an opposite side light-transmissive substrate affixed to the surface of the polarization plate on the side opposite to the liquid crystal panel side surface of the polarization plate. The thickness of the liquid crystal panel side light-transmissive substrate is smaller than the thickness of the opposite side light-transmissive substrate.

A projector includes: an optical modulator including a liquid crystal cell, a first optical element formed of an optical material having positive uniaxiality, a second optical element formed of an optical material having positive uniaxiality, a third optical element including at least one optical film formed of optical material having a refractive index anisotropy, and a pair of polarization elements; an adjustment mechanism that can adjust an optical azimuth of a first group, having at least one of the first optical element, second optical element, and at least one optical film included in the third optical element, with respect to a fixed optical azimuth of a second group as a remainder excluding the element included in the first group among the first to third optical elements; a light source generating light for illuminating the optical modulator; and a projection optical system projecting the light passed through the optical modulator.

Projector having an adjustment mechanism

An optical device is provided which includes a plurality of optical modulation devices, a plurality of optical elements, and a prism having a plurality of luminous flux incidence surfaces positioned on a luminous flux irradiation-side of each optical element. The optical device includes a holding member which holds at least one of the plurality of optical modulation devices and a pair of light-transmissive substrates. In one implementation, an irradiation-side substrate disposed on the luminous flux irradiation-side of the optical element has a dimension larger than that of the optical element, and the irradiation-side substrate is secured to the luminous flux incidence surface of the prism, an aperture is formed in the holding member, and the holding member is attached to the irradiation-side substrate so as to cover the optical element.

A method for manufacturing an optical element in which a display quality of a projection image is improved is provided. The method is for manufacturing an optical element having a polarization plate of which one side a transmissive member is bonded. The method includes preparing a light source, a polarization plate, a transmissive member, a certificating polarization plate and a spectrophotometer; arranging the polarization plate, the transmissive member, and the certificating polarization plate between the light source and the spectrophotometer; measuring a light transmittance spectrum of a predetermined wavelength at each rotational position of the transmissive member; determining the rotational position of the transmissive member that yields a smallest value for a difference between a maximum value and a minim value of the light transmittance spectrum; and bonding the transmissive member to the polarization plate at the determined rotational position.
