A golf trainer includes magnetic sensors for detecting the passage of a golf club head and is provided with a device for electronically measuring the speed of the club. The carry of the ball is also calculated, except when the club selected for use is a putter, from data regarding the club selected and the characteristics of the speed of this club versus the carry of the ball.

Golf trainer for calculating ball carry

A golf trainer includes one or more magnetic sensors disposed at predetermined locations relative to an ideal swing path of a golf club head. The outputs of the magnetic sensors are amplified and processed to calculate such parameters as the club head velocity, swing orbit, face angle, and ball carry, as examples. A suitable display device is used to provide the trainer user with instantaneous feedback relative to the success of a given practice swing.

A golf training device for detecting movement of a golf ball and club head including a supporting body which extends toward the golf ball traveling direction. On one side of the supporting body first and second optical signals are output, on the other side the signals are detected. First and second light signals are discriminated by analysis of their detected different phases, and this data is used to analyze ball movement. Club head movement, in one embodiment, is analyzed using fiber optic detectors in the mat.

Computer aided golf training device

A golf trainer is provided with sensors arranged in a bifurcated sensor case which is interposed with support portions formed in a base. The base holds the sensor case such that spaces are formed between the sensor case and an overlying shock-resistant material and artificial turf surface. The signals output by the sensors are processed and used to display various information relative to a club swing.
