A microchannel device includes: an upstream channel portion configured to allow an upstream liquid plug and a gas to flow therethrough; a downstream channel portion configured to allow a downstream liquid plug and a gas to flow therethrough; a liquid holding portion provided between a downstream end portion of the upstream channel portion and an upstream end portion of the downstream channel portion, the liquid holding portion being configured to hold a main liquid plug therein; and a gas bypass channel portion provided so as to bypass the liquid holding portion from the downstream end portion of the upstream channel portion to the upstream end portion of the downstream channel portion, the gas bypass channel portion being configured to allow the gas to flow therethrough in a state in which the liquid holding portion holds the main liquid plug.

Microchannel device and method pertaining thereto

There is provided a culture method and a culture device for efficiently producing cells and/or cell tissue suitable for medication applications. The culture method may include a first step of adhering the cells onto the electrode layer and culturing the cells thereon. The electrode layer may be coated with an oligopeptide including a terminal amino acid, a cell adhesive sequence, and an alternating sequence to be bound to the one end side of the cell-adhesive sequence. The alternating sequence may include a plurality of acidic amino acids and a plurality of basic amino acids that are alternately bound to each other one by one. The culture method may include a second step of applying, to the electrode layer having the cells adhered thereonto, an electrical potential inducing reductive desorption of the oligopeptide, to thereby detach the cells from the electrode layer.

A fluid transport device transports fluid containing electrolytes within a flow channel. A three-port fluid selector valve is formed to have a large flow coefficient while making a structure of the valve compact. This three-port fluid selector valve allows fluid which has flowed from an inlet port into a valve chamber in a valve casing to flow out of two outlet ports and Valve seats and communicating with the respective outlet ports are provided to opposite walls of the valve chamber facing each other and a poppet-type valve body for being selectively seated on the valve seats to connect the inlet port to one of the outlet ports and to close the other of the outlet ports is disposed in the valve chamber. The valve seats are formed in recessed shapes in the valve chamber and provided to inner bottom portions of valve seat holes and having depths in which at least a half of a thickness of the valve body at a periphery of the valve body is embedded and suppresses reduction of the flow coefficient.

Fluid selector valve

A miniature reference electrode with improved stability and durability formed of a miniature silver/silver chloride reference electrode with high stability and general applicability as a reference electrode. The miniature reference electrode includes, on electrode substrate, a thin-film backbone metal pattern and a thin-film silver pattern formed in electrical contact with a portion of the thin-film backbone metal pattern. A silver chloride layer is set on a portion of the thin-film silver pattern. The silver chloride layer is in contact with a portion of thin-film electrolyte layer via hydrophobic thin-film insulating layer. The thin-film electrolyte layer is impregnated with a saturated solution of potassium chloride for making contact to the outside via a thin-film liquid junction pattern. When in use, the thin-film liquid junction pattern ( ) is impregnated with the electrolyte, while its end portion is recessed in an aqueous solution.
