There is provided a melting kneading devolatilizing extruder in which the surface renewability of a molten raw material is improved. The melting kneading devolatilizing extruder of the invention includes at least one surface renewable screw segment each including a plurality of discs that are arrayed such that a phase angle E, which is a deviation angle between the discs around an axis of a screw, is 0&#xb0;&#x3c;E&#x3c;90&#xb0; within a surface renewal region, and the surface renewable screw segment includes a void portion between the discs so that the discs are arranged at intervals in a direction of the axis of the screw.

A devolatilization performance prediction apparatus for a solution devolatilization process using a twin-screw extruder is described. The devolatilization performance prediction apparatus determines a flow state of the solution in the twin-screw extruder, simulates the solution devolatilization process based on the flow state, and predicts a performance of a devolatilization process conducted with the twin screw extruder based on the simulation.

A devolatilization simulation apparatus for screw extruders and a devolatilization simulation program for screw extruders can actually simulate the devolatilization process in a screw extruder. An extruder simulation system for simulating the conditions of devolatilization of an extruder by computationally determining the resin temperature, the pressure, the residence time, the filling ratio, the torque, the power, the solid-phase occupancy and the concentration of the volatile components in terms of distribution in the axial direction of the extruder from the configuration and the operating conditions of the extruder and the physical properties of the resin in the extruder comprising a means for arithmetically simulating the process where the concentration of the volatile components contained in the resin gradually falls as they are devolatilized by vent cylinders.

Devolatilization simulation apparatus for screw extruders and devolatilization simulation program for screw extruders

A kneading disk has a plurality of disk elements having flight tips arranged at a helix angle &#x3b8; in a direction supporting main streams of a resin. The flight tips of every two adjoining disks have a clearance formed therebetween. The resin is kneaded by undergoing dispersion and distribution without having any excessive temperature elevation in approximately three kinds of streams, i.e. its main streams flowing along the flight tips, its back streams through the clearances and its tip riding streams flowing over the flight tips.
