An image forming apparatus is provided to enable a user to integrate plural images on a single sheet in a pattern controlled by the user. The apparatus includes an image acquiring portion that acquires document images, and integration pattern determining portion that makes settings relating to the integration and an integrated document image generating portion that generates the integrated document images corresponding to the integration pattern. The apparatus includes a print portion that prints the integrated document images.

A drop-prevention mechanism for keeping original document sheets from falling off a document loading table openable on the upper surface of a multifunctional printer having, for example, faxing and photocopying capabilities. A loading section on the loading table loads documents for feeding to an automatic document feeder (ADF) that positions documents onto a rear image-reading part of the upper surface of the multifunctional printer. A discharge section of the loading table beneath the loading section receives documents discharged from the rear image-reading part by the ADF. The loading table is openable to expose a front image-reading part of the upper surface of the printer, where odd-sized documents, books and the like may be manually positioned for photocopying. When the loading table is swung up to expose the front image-reading section, the drop-prevention mechanism pivots catches (drop-prevention members) into position where the near edges of documents left stacked on the loading section abut on the catches, which prevents the documents on the loading table from falling off. When the loading table is swung down and closed onto the printer upper surface, (into the ADF operational position), the drop-prevention mechanism is stowed out of the way, so as not to interfere with the sheet-discharging operation of the ADF.

A toner for making an ink printed-like image, which causes less eyestrain resulting from continuously reading the toner image for a long time, is provided. The toner has main particles and each main particle includes 100 parts by weight of binder resin and 1 to 3 parts by weight of black coloring agent dispersed in the binder resin. A developer using the toner and printed matter obtained by using the toner are also provided.

A casing unitarily housing the photosensitive drum and developing device of a xerographic imaging system such that the thus composed imaging unit is retained in a predetermined operational position removably installed into a printing machine. The casing is configured such that when the imaging unit is removed from the printing machine, the imaging unit is retained in a posture equivalent to the predetermined operational orientation. Toner and developing agents are thus held in a steady state within the imaging unit, which particularly is an imaging unit in a lateral-transfer, vertical sheet-transport xerographic printing machine.

An image forming machine including a single layer dispersion type photoconductor drum, a charging device for charging the surface of the photoconductor drum to a specific polarity, and a developing roller for conveying a developer to the surface of the photoconductor drum having a latent electrostatic image formed thereon. The photoconductor drum and the developing roller are adapted to contact each other at their surfaces and to be rotationally driven in reverse directions. The photoconductor drum has a diameter set at 10 to 20 mm, while the developing roller has a diameter set at 90 to 110% of the diameter of the photoconductor drum.
