To provide a corrugating roll for a single facer which avoids generation of press marks or fracture of paper without a loss of paper by suppressing a contact pressure between a corrugating medium and a liner paper, and which may manufacture the corrugated paper in a low cost with easiness of machining work, in a corrugating roll for a single facer, in which a pair of corrugating rolls engage with each other through a tooth form in parallel to roll axes on circumferential surface portions of the rolls, a profile of a tooth tip portion is composed, in combination, of a plurality of arcs that are symmetrical with respect to a tooth apex portion. The profile of the tooth tip portion includes the tooth apex portion and is constituted in combination by a first arc having substantially the same radius of curvature as that of an outer circle of the corrugating roll. The profile of the tooth tip portion is constituted in combination by a second arc that inscribes with the first arc at a terminal portion of the first arc. The profile of the tooth tip portion is constituted in combination by a third arc that circumscribes with the second arc at a terminal portion of the second arc.

Single facer and corrugating roll for the same

An improved corrugating roll unit exchanging apparatus for a single facer is disclosed. Guide rails directed in an axial direction of corrugating rolls are disposed horizontally above a single-facer. One end of a beam is supported so as to be movable along the guide rails, and the other end thereof is supported by posts which are horizontally movable in the axial direction of the corrugating rolls. A suspending device for suspending a corrugating roll unit is held by the beam. Preferably, the beam is supported by the guide rails via drive wheels. Further preferably, the posts are formed in a gate shape, and the lower ends of the posts are supported by driven wheels adapted to roll along a pair of parallel rail tracks.

Corrugating roll unit exchanging apparatus for a single facer

A single facer comprises an apparatus for automatically adjusting a gap between rolls, i.e., an apparatus for maintaining a roll gap constant. The apparatus for adjusting the distance between the centers of the roll shafts is operable to move one roll toward the other by actuating driving means. The driving means is controlled in response to the variation in the temperature of the frame which supports the driving means of the roll in place, or to the passage of time after a heating mechanism for heating the rolls has started operation.

Single facer capable of maintaining a constant roll gap

A single facer comprising a pair of upper and lower corrugating rolls having a corrugation thereon for corrugating a core sheet fed therebetween. The sheet is then pasted at the tops of their corrugations. A liner is fed in different direction and caused to pass together with the pasted sheet between the lower corrugating roll and a pressure roll to be sticked to each other to thereby form a single-sided corrugated sheet. The upper and lower corrugating rolls are supported by separate rotatable frames, and engageable with each other to form a corrugation forming unit. A plurality of corrugation rolls having a different corrugation shape thereon are provided on each of the rotatable frames.

Single facer with replacable rollers

A lower roll apparatus for a single facer includes a nozzle-equipped scraper constituted by a scraper and a nozzle which are integrated with each other. The nozzle-equipped scraper is inerted into a circumferential groove formed on a lower roll and is disposed at the position closest to a suction bore formed in the lower roll. The apparatus is further provided with a steam or compressed air source for supplying the nozzle with steam or compressed air. The nozzle-equipped scraper is arranged such as to be pivotal so that the nozzle is separated from the circumferential groove.

Lower roll apparatus for single facer

A single facer of the type wherein a core paper sheet is corrugated by means of a pair of upper and lower corrugated rolls and has its crest portions applied with paste, and then a liner introduced from a different direction is pasted on the corrugated core sheet while passing between the lower corrugated roll and a pressure roll to form a single-faced corrugated sheet, is improved in that at least one pair of additional upper and lower corrugated rolls having a different shape of corrugation from first mentioned pair of upper and lower corrugated rolls are supported on a rotatable frame jointly with the first pair of upper and lower corrugated rolls, and structure for rotating the rotatable frame is provided.

Single facer

A single facer including a main frame installed on a base for supporting a paste application roll, a pressure roll and so on, a movable frame fixed on or removably supported on the main frame for rotatably supporting upper and lower corrugated rolls in meshing engagement with each other, and a transfer mechanism for moving the movable frame in a transverse direction substantially in the axial direction of the respective upper and lower rolls to transfer them out of or into the main frame.

There is provided a single facer consisting of an upper roll, a lower roll, a pasting device and a pressure member in parallel with the lower roll for manufacturing single-faced corrugated board. The single facer is characterized by the provision of a suction conveyor having belts for conveying single-faced corrugated board, the suction conveyor being disposed at the side of another sheet in the transport passage of the single-faced corrugated board in the proximity of the engaging point between the lower roll and pressure member, thereby preventing the strip-off or separation of a contact portion between the corrugated sheet and another sheet by means of the structure, which is extremely simple and compact in form.

The interior wall of a hollow corrugating roll or a hollow pressure roll of a single facer is frictionally engaged by a resilient member so as to minimize the elastic vibration thereof and thereby to minimize the noise developed and transmitted during operation of the single facer. The resilient member is positioned within the hollow interior of the roll and is arranged to press against the interior wall as a result of its resilience and thereby to reduce the elastic vibration of the roll and the noise transmitted. The resilient member may take various forms, such as a coiled helical spring, a coiled leaf spring, a plurality of tapered nested annular members engaging the interior wall of the roll, et cetera.

Rolls for single facer

A hollow pressure member is provided adjacent the lower corrugating roll of a single facer to apply pressure for effecting bonding of the corrugated web and the liner web. The pressure member is provided, in the area facing the lower corrugating roll, with an arcuate surface having a curvature equal to or exceeding that of a curve extending through the tips of the flutes of the corrugating roll. The pressure member is of circumferential length at least exceeding the distance between two adjacent flutes of the corrugating roll. In one form of the invention the pressure member is provided with a plurality of threaded openings extending from its hollow interior to the arcuate surface and threaded hollow plugs are received within these openings. Each plug includes an aperture for permitting communication between the hollow interior of the pressure member and the arcuate surface thereof. Within the plug, there is provided a ball which is spring-biased toward an opening in the plug at the arcuate surface of the pressure member and closes this opening in the absence of external force. When single-faced board is being manufactured, the balls are forced inwardly against the spring bias, providing a passage for supply of air from the hollow interior of the pressure member to the area between the arcuate surface and the liner web. This provides a gaseous film between the liner web and the arcuate surface, thereby substantially reducing friction therebetween. In another form of the invention, the aforementioned plugs and spring-biased balls are omitted and the arcuate surface of the pressure member is provided with a plurality of openings which are in continuous communication with the hollow interior of the pressure member. During operation air supplied from a suitable source through the hollow interior passes through these openings and provides a film between the arcuate surface and the liner web to reduce the friction therebetween.

A single facer includes a pressure member adjacent the lower corrugating roll to apply pressure for effecting bonding of a corrugated web and a liner web, the liner web being adjacent the surface of the pressure member. The pressure member is provided, in the area facing the lower corrugating roll, with an arcuate surface having a curvature equal to or exceeding that of an arc extending through the tips of the flutes of the corrugating roll. The pressure member is of a circumferential length at least exceeding the distance between two adjacent flutes of the corrugating roll. In order to reduce the friction between the arcuate surface of the pressure member and the liner web passing thereover, a conveyor in the form of an endless belt is disposed with a portion thereof extending between the arcuate surface of the pressure member and the liner web. This portion of the endless belt is movable in the same direction as the periphery of the lower corrugating roll and is movable at a speed equal to the peripheral speed of the lower corrugating roll.
