A receiver includes an oscillator for generating a local oscillator signal, a frequency converter for heterodyning a received signal of one frequency band or a plurality of frequency bands into an intermediate frequency (IF) signals with using the local oscillator signal, a filter connected to an output of the frequency converter and having a cut-off frequency changeable, an analog-digital (AD) converter connected to an output of the filter to convert an analog signal of one frequency band or a plurality of frequency bands into a digital signal, a pre-stage detector connected to an output of the AD converter or connected between the filter and the AD converter to detect a signal level, and a controller for controlling the cut-off frequency of the filter based on the signal level detected by the pre-stage detector.

Receiver and electronic device using the same

Demodulator includes reception quality evaluation circuit for evaluating the quality of a received signal by comparison with a first reference value, and outputting an evaluation signal; and driving circuit receiving the evaluation signal. If reception quality evaluation circuit evaluates that the quality of the received signal is acceptable, power supply from driving circuit to DC offset control loop is stopped. This offers a high-frequency receiver that reduces power consumption.

Electronic tuner and high frequency receiving device using the same

In an image rejection mixer, when a signal in the first radio frequency band is inputted to an input terminal, the first mixer and the second mixer convert the input signal in the first radio frequency band to a signal in the first intermediate frequency band by using the first local signal from a local signal oscillator, and a filter circuit attenuates an image interfering signal existing in the first intermediate frequency band by means of the first attenuation band. Also, when a signal in the second radio frequency band is inputted to the input terminal, the first mixer and the second mixer convert the input signal in the second radio frequency band to a signal in the second intermediate frequency band by using the second local signal from the local signal oscillator, and the filter circuit attenuates an image interfering signal existing in the second intermediate frequency band by means of the second attenuation band that is narrower than the first attenuation band.

Receiving device and electronic equipment using the same

A first switching circuit () outputs a first radio signal representing a plurality of time-division multiplexed programs and a second radio signal other than the first radio signal, one at a time according to a switching signal. A voltage control oscillator () outputs a local signal at a frequency suitable for whichever signal outputted. Using the local signal generated, a frequency converter () frequency converts the first and second radio signals to first and second baseband signals, respectively. Via a second switching circuit (), a first baseband unit () and a second baseband unit () are supplied with the first and second baseband signals, respectively, and demodulate them to first and second data signals. A switching unit () supplies the switching signal indicating periods during which the first radio signal represents a user-selected program, to a tuner unit () where the first and second radio signals are processed by time-sharing.

Wireless terminal device

Filter circuit includes Nth-order active filters switching circuit which switches shorting or non-shorting of active filter, and power-supply control circuit which controls such that a power supply of active filter is turned off when switching circuit shorts active filter. A receiver employing filter circuit turns off the power supply of active filter not needed when no interference wave exists within a given range from a desired frequency band. The foregoing structure allows lowering the power consumption of filter circuit.

Filter circuit, and receiver and electronic device using the same filter circuit

An oscillator unit is configured such that a frequency adjustment unit of a synthesizer used by a controller is smaller than a frequency variation tracking capability of a demodulator connected to an output side of a frequency converter. This structure successfully combines the temperature compensation control of an oscillator unit and the receiving process of a high-frequency receiving device. Accordingly, an oscillator unit with large temperature coefficient is applicable to high-frequency receiving devices.

Oscillator, and receiving device and electronic device using the oscillator

A broad oscillation frequency range and good phase noise characteristic are achievable simultaneously by an oscillation circuit and a resonance circuit connected to the oscillation circuit. The resonance circuit includes an inductor element connected to the oscillation circuit, a first variable capacitance section connected to the inductor element, and a second variable capacitance section connected in parallel to the first variable capacitance section. The first variable capacitance section includes a first variable capacitive element connected to the inductor element, and a second variable capacitive element connected in parallel to the first variable capacitive element. The first variable capacitive element changes its capacity value based on a control voltage and a first reference voltage. The second variable capacitive element changes its capacity value based on the control voltage and a second reference voltage. The first reference voltage and the second reference voltage are controlled based on the capacity value of the second variable capacitance section.

Local oscillator, receiver, and electronic device

A receiver includes a first receiving section, a second receiving section, and a controller. A controller is operable to switch between a diversity receiving mode in which both of the first receiving section and the second receiving section are activated and a single receiving mode in which the first receiving section is activated while the second receiving section is deactivated. The controller allows the first mixer to heterodyne the signal output from the first RF amplifier with using the second oscillation signal and output the heterodyned signal in the first single receiving mode.

Receiver and electronic apparatus having diversity and single receiving modes

A receiving apparatus includes a first receiver, a second receiver, a received signal synthesizer connected to the first and second receivers, a synchronizing signal synthesizer connected to the first and second receivers, and a synchronization detector connected to the synchronizing signal synthesizer. In this structure, synchronization determination is performed using a synchronizing signal of either the first or second receiver, and diversity reception is performed using the received signals of the first and second receivers.

Receiving apparatus

A radio receiver for diversity has a first receiving unit and a second receiving unit for diversity-receiving a signal of a radio frequency. The first receiving unit has a first mixer for converting the received signal of the radio frequency into an IF signal of a first intermediate frequency by an upper local method, and a first filter coupled to the output side of the first mixer. The second receiving unit has a second mixer for converting the received signal of the radio frequency into an IF signal of a second intermediate frequency by a lower local method, and a second filter coupled to the output side of the second mixer. The radio receiver can improve receiving sensitivity.

Receiver and electronic apparatus using the same

An OFDM reception device includes: a first channel estimation unit for estimating a channel distortion by using a signal that is supplied from the reception unit and has a first time interval; a second channel estimation unit for estimating a channel distortion by using a signal that is supplied from the reception unit and has a second time interval shorter than the first time interval; a selection unit for selecting and outputting one of a signal from the first channel estimation unit and a signal from the second channel estimation unit, according to a control signal from the control unit; and a correction unit for correcting a reception signal supplied from the reception unit, according to the channel estimation signal from the selection unit. The control unit determines the control signal to be supplied to the selection unit, according a reception state of the reception unit.

OFDM reception device and OFDM receiver using the same

A receiver has a first semiconductor chip and second semiconductor chip for receiving signals of a first radio frequency band, and a communication unit for performing communication using signals of a second radio frequency band. A second mixing unit in the second semiconductor chip uses second local signals supplied from a second local signal oscillator when the frequency of first local signals fed from a first-local-signal-output terminal to a first-local-signal-input terminal is within a predetermined range from the second frequency band, or uses first local signals supplied from the first-local-signal-input terminal when the frequency of the first local signals fed from the first-local-signal-output terminal to the first-local-signal-input terminal is out of the predetermined range from the second frequency band.

A receiver according to the present invention includes a first receiving (RCV) quality detector and a second RCV quality detector connected before a combining unit. The second RCV quality detector determines a quality of a signal output from at least one of a first receiving unit and a second receiving unit by a method different from that of the first RCV quality detector. A controller allows the receiver to operate in a single receiving mode when a determination result of the second RCV quality detector is not better than a predetermined level regardless of a determination result of a determination result of the first RCV quality detector not being a predetermined level. When the receiver passes in an area where the receiver cannot receive a broadcast signal, the determination result of the second RCV quality detector is not better than the predetermined level. In response, the controller allows the receiver to operate in the single receiving mode, thereby reducing power consumption of the receiver.

A communication module is provided in which its characteristic of separation between its first and second tuner units is improved. The module is equipped with a circuit board having a first main surface, and a second main surface opposite to the first main surface; a first amplifier arranged on the first main surface, for amplifying a first signal; a first mixer arranged on the first main surface, for converting a signal supplied from the first amplifier to an intermediate-frequency signal; a second amplifier for amplifying a second signal; and a mixer for converting a signal supplied from the second amplifier to an intermediate-frequency signal, both arranged on the second main surface of the circuit board.
