A bone cement composition which contains titanium dioxide particles having a median diameter of 0.5 to 7.0 &#x3bc;m as measured by a laser diffraction/scattering particle size distribution analyzer and a BET specific surface area of 0.5 to 7.0 m/g as measured by a nitrogen adsorption method, and a base-forming component comprising a (meth)acrylate polymer and a (meth)acrylate monomer, wherein the content of the titanium dioxide particles is 5 to 50% by mass based on the total mass of the composition. The bone cement composition has bioactivity and is capable of forming a hardened material having a high mechanical strength.

A bone cement composition which contains large-diameter (meth)acrylate polymer particles having an average particle diameter of 10 to 60 &#x3bc;m, small-diameter (meth)acrylate polymer particles having an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 2.0 &#x3bc;m, a (meth)acrylate monomer and a polymerization initiator, wherein the content of the small-diameter (meth)acrylate polymer particles is 5 to 30% by mass based on the total mass of the small-diameter (meth)acrylate polymer particles and the large-diameter (meth)acrylate polymer particles, and a part or a whole of the small-diameter (meth)acrylate polymer particles are contained in the form of aggregates having an average particle diameter of 30 to 50 &#x3bc;m.
