A radiation detector according to an embodiment includes: a cathode electrode, a plurality of anode electrodes, a crystal, an anti-scatter grid, and a conductive part. The cathode electrode is provided on the radiation incident side. The plurality of anode electrodes are arranged so as to oppose the cathode electrode. The crystal is provided between the cathode electrode and the plurality of anode electrodes and configured to convert incident radiation into electrons. The conductive part is provided between the plurality of anode electrodes and has a conductivity higher than that of the crystal. The anti-scatter grid is provided on the radiation incident side of the cathode electrode so as to oppose the conductive part via the crystal, while being arranged in a first direction.

The processing circuitry calculates an estimated spectrum based on an irradiation spectrum, an estimated length and information indicating a distortion of a spectrum occurring in a path of the X-rays passing through the subject, the estimated length representing an estimated value of an X-ray transmission length of a material of decomposition target. The processing circuitry determines an X-ray transmission length of the material of decomposition target based on the estimated spectrum and a detected spectrum that is a spectrum after the X-rays have passed through the subject and that is detected by the X-ray detector.

The processing circuitry is configured to determine, within a reconstruction region, a first region on which a spectrum reconstructing process is to be performed and a second region on which an energy integral reconstructing process is to be performed, on the basis of output values related to energy spectra based on the signals output by the detecting elements. The processing circuitry is configured to generate an image on the basis of the determined first region and the determined second region.
