A solar cell manufacturing method includes a step of forming a diffusion layer including a first section and a second section on a light-receiving side of a semiconductor substrate, where the first section has a first concentration of impurities, and the second section has a second concentration of the impurities that is higher than the first concentration, a step of irradiating the diffusion layer with detection light that is reflected at a higher reflectivity on the first section than on the second section, and a step of detecting the first section that corresponds to a first reflectivity, and the second section that corresponds to a second reflectivity that is lower than the first reflectivity in the diffusion layer on the basis of a difference in reflectivity of the detection light reflected off the respective sections of the diffusion layer.

Solar cell manufacturing method

A solar cell includes a silicon substrate, an aluminum electrode that collects electricity from the rear surface of the silicon substrate, and a silver electrode that extracts output from the aluminum electrode. The aluminum electrode includes an opening formed on the rear surface of the silicon substrate. On a side of the opening is formed a notch that recesses parallel to the direction in which principal stress acts in a plane of the silicon substrate. The silver electrode covers at least the opening and the notch of the aluminum electrode.

Solar cell and manufacturing method thereof

When forming an electrode by printing several times, the cross section area of the electrode is increased and the resistance is reduced while more electrode material is required, which leads to a cost up and waste of resources. There is provided a solar cell manufacturing method for forming an electrode of a predetermined pattern by repeating printing on a substrate surface by a predetermined number of times. A mask pattern for printing the entire predetermined pattern is used at least once among the predetermined number of printings while mask patterns, each for printing a part of the predetermined pattern, are used in the other printings, thereby forming the electrode of the predetermined pattern.

Solar battery and manufacturing method therefor

A solar cell comprises a substrate that includes a photoelectric conversion function, a first electrode provided on one surface of the substrate, a second electrode provided on other surface of the substrate, and a third electrode provided on the other surface of the substrate with its periphery overlapping the second electrode in the in-plane direction of the substrate for extracting an electric power from the second electrode. The thickness of the second electrode is larger than that of the third electrode, and the difference between the thickness of the second electrode and that of the third electrode is within a range from equal to or more than 10 micrometers to equal to or less than 30 micrometers. Thereby, in the solar cell, an electrode separation (alloy separation) can be effectively prevented.

A solar cell includes a photoelectric conversion layer, a first electrode on one surface of the photoelectric conversion layer, a second electrode provided on other surface of the photoelectric conversion layer, and a third electrode on the other surface of the photoelectric conversion layer. The third electrode is substantially rectangular with its corners rounded off in the in-plane direction of the photoelectric conversion layer, and overlaps the second electrode at the periphery thereof.

The manufacturing method includes: forming a P-type silicon substrate and a high-concentration N-type diffusion layer, in which an N-type impurity is diffused in a first concentration, on an entire surface at a light-incident surface side; forming an etching resistance film on the high-concentration N-type diffusion layer and forming fine pores at a predetermined position within a recess forming regions on the etching resistance film; forming recesses by etching the silicon substrate around a forming position of the fine pores, so as not to leave the high-concentration N-type diffusion layer within the recess forming region; forming the low-concentration N-type diffusion layer, in which an N-type impurity is diffused in a second concentration that is lower than the first concentration, on a surface on which the recesses are formed; and forming a grid electrode in an electrode forming region at a light-incident surface side of the silicon substrate.

Photovoltaic device and manufacturing method thereof

A solar cell includes a photoelectric conversion substrate, a first electrode on one surface of the substrate, a second electrode on the other surface of the substrate, and a third electrode on the other surface of the substrate. The third electrode extracts electric power from the second electrode, and overlaps the second electrode at the periphery in the in-plane direction of the photoelectric conversion substrate. The thickness of the second electrode is larger than that of the third electrode, and the difference between the thickness of the second electrode and that of the third electrode is not less than 10 micrometers and not more than 30 micrometers.

A method of producing silicon blocks by cutting a silicon ingot is provided. The method uses a silicon ingot cutting slurry containing abrasive grains and an alkaline substance so as to provide the silicon blocks that can be produced into silicon wafers each having a thin thickness with reduced substrate damage at the time of producing a solar battery. The alkaline substance has a content mass that is at least 3.5% with respect to the mass of the entire liquid components of said slurry, and the slurry contains an organic amine having a mass ratio of 0.5 to 5.0 with respect to water in the liquid components of the slurry. The slurry is used at a pH of 12 or more and at a temperature of from 65 to 95 degrees C.

Method of producing silicon blocks and silicon wafers

A water-repellent layer is formed on a light-receiving surface of a solar battery prior to the formation of a coated-film electrode. The coated-film electrode is formed by screen-printing a coating solution on the water-repellent layer. The coating solution is restricted from spreading on the surface of the water-repellent layer and a narrow ridge-shaped coated-film electrode is formed. Thus, the front electrode is smaller in width and larger in height, so received light loss and transmission loss are decreased.

Method of making a solar battery

The method of manufacturing a semiconductor apparatus can solve problems in that a semiconductor film is not separated completely from a substrate and a great quantity of etchant is required. Ammonium fluoride is added to a hydrofluoric acid solution, so as to improve the etching rate and promote separation of the semiconductor film from the substrate. A manufacturing apparatus according to the present invention is provided with a re-liquefying function capable of again liquefying vapor of hydrofluoric acid solution so as to use liquefied vapor as the etchant so that the etchant is saved.

Method of manufacturing semiconductor apparatus and apparatus thereof

A process of forming electrodes is simplified during modularizing of a solar battery. According to the manufacturing method and the manufacturing apparatus, a thin solar battery is manufactured at a reduced cost and with a better yield. Using a robot which includes a suction chip which can handle a semiconductor film 2 without any damage which is separated from a particular substrate 1, the semiconductor films 2 are each accurately placed through a transparent resin 3 onto a glass substrate 7 which serves as a window of a solar battery, and p-type and n-type electrodes are printed at a time on the semiconductor films 2 which are arranged. Further, since a monolithic tab electrode is soldered to connect the electrodes, the manufacturing processes of the solar battery are simplified.

Method of and apparatus for manufacturing thin solar battery

A method of making the solar cells includes a step of forming a first electroconductive region on a first surface of a semiconductor substrate having through-holes defined therein and also having an emitter layer formed thereon, a step of disposing the semiconductor substrate on a transparent substrate with a second surface of the semiconductor substrate opposite to the first surface thereof confronting the transparent substrate through a resinous material, a step of bonding the semiconductor substrate and the transparent substrate together by means of the resinous material, and a step of forming a second electroconductive region on the first electroconductive region.

Method of making solar cells

A method for producing a thin film solar cell includes preparing a substrate of a low purity material and having opposed front and rear surfaces; forming an insulating film on the front surface of the substrate; forming a second conductivity type active layer of a high purity material on the insulating film with a front surface exposed; forming a second conductivity type semiconductor region within the active layer, reaching the front surface, to produce a p-n junction for light-to-electricity conversion; forming an anti-reflection film on the front surface of the active layer, the anti-reflection film reducing reflection of incident light; forming a surface electrode in contact with the front surface of the active layer; adhering the front surface side of the active layer to a supporting plate and selectively etching the low purity substrate from the rear surface to form a supporting substrate supporting the active layer; and forming a rear electrode on the rear surface of the supporting substrate contacting the active layer.
