The valve closing control is performed to close the waist gate valve of the turbocharger when the hydraulic fluid temperature is less than the temperature threshold. By closing the waist gate valve, the output torque is increased by increasing the amount of air taken into the engine that is idling operation, to suppress the engine stall that may occur when switching from the non-driving range to the driving range.

An internal combustion engine to which a controller is applied includes a cylinder, a turbocharger, an intake passage, a throttle valve, and an exhaust passage. The turbocharger includes a turbine wheel, a compressor wheel, and a wastegate valve. The controller executes a loss estimating process that calculates an estimated value of a pumping loss of the internal combustion engine from an intake air pressure, which is air pressure at a downstream side of the throttle valve in the intake passage, an engine speed of the internal combustion engine, and a charging pressure.

An engine control system according to the present disclosure includes an oil temperature sensor and a waste gate valve control unit. The oil temperature sensor detects a temperature of an engine oil. The waste gate valve control unit controls opening and closing of a waste gate valve based on the temperature of the engine oil detected by the oil temperature sensor. More specifically, when the temperature of the engine oil detected by the oil temperature sensor is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold, the waste gate valve control unit controls the waste gate valve so that it opens.

A control device for an internal combustion engine is provided. The internal combustion engine includes a cylinder, an in-cylinder pressure sensor, a fuel injection valve, and an alcohol concentration sensor. The control device includes an electronic control unit. Internal combustion engine air-fuel ratio control apparatus and method in which the target air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas flowing into an exhaust-gas purification catalyst unit is controlled through at least proportional-integral control such that the correction amount per unit time of the oxygen amount in said catalyst unit is maintained constant. The present invention relates to an air-fuel ratio control device for an internal combustion engine, and makes it possible to maintain high purification performance by suppressing a decrease in the oxygen occlusion capability of a catalyst. When an Osensor output oxs is greater than a reference value oxsref, which corresponds to a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, and smaller than an upper threshold value oxsrefR, a sub-FB reflection coefficient is fixed at a predetermined value vdoxfor providing a lean air-fuel ratio. When, on the other hand, the Osensor output oxs is smaller than the reference value oxsref and greater than a lower threshold value oxsrefL, the sub-FB reflection coefficient is fixed at a predetermined value vdoxfor providing a rich air-fuel ratio. The sub-FB reflection coefficient reflects the Osensor output oxs in the calculation of a fuel injection amount and increases or decreases to have a consequence on the air-fuel ratio of an exhaust gas.

The combustion air-fuel ratio is made leaner than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio at the time of engine startup and the combustion air-fuel ratio is made richer than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio and the exhaust downstream part of the three-way catalyst apparatus is raised in temperature when it is judged that just the exhaust upstream part of the three-way catalyst apparatus arranged in the engine exhaust system has been raised to the catalyst activation temperature.
