A liquid cartridge includes a liquid container configured to store a liquid, a lid part configured to cover the liquid container, a liquid holding member stored in the liquid container and configured to hold the liquid, and a projection member connected to the liquid holding member, wherein the liquid holding member has a first surface facing the lid part, wherein the lid part includes an atmosphere communication path that communicates inside and outside of the liquid container, wherein the atmosphere communication path includes an opening that is open to the inside of the liquid container, and wherein the projection member projects from the first surface toward the lid part, and surrounds at least a portion of the opening as viewed from a vertical direction orthogonal to the first surface in which the lid part covers the liquid container.

A liquid ejection head includes: a channel member; an ejection substrate being disposed in a recess of the channel member and having a nozzle row of nozzles arranged in a first direction; and a sealing member having a thermosetting resin filled in a predetermined space defined by side and bottom surfaces of the recess and a side surface of the ejection substrate and located upstream of the ejection substrate in a second direction. The sealing member includes: a first sealing portion having a first resin located near the bottom surface of the predetermined space; and a second sealing portion having a second resin located near an ejection surface of the ejection substrate. A coefficient of linear expansion of the first resin is less than that of the second resin, and a specific gravity of the first resin is greater than that of the second resin.

Provided is a technique in which liquid leaking in attachment and detachment of a liquid storage container to and from a printing apparatus can be retained with a simple, space-saving configuration. The liquid storage container can be attached to the printing apparatus. The liquid storage container includes a storage portion that stores the liquid, a supply port that supplies the liquid stored in the storage portion to the printing apparatus, and a liquid retaining portion that is capable of retaining the liquid leaking in the attachment and detachment of the liquid storage container to and from the printing apparatus by using capillary force. The liquid retaining portion extends along an outer peripheral surface of the supply port, in an attachment direction in which the liquid storage container is attached to the printing apparatus.

A liquid storage container includes a liquid absorber to absorb and hold a liquid, a storage portion storing the liquid absorber, a lid member having ribs, an air communication port provided in the lid member, and a liquid holding path. The storage portion has an opening facing a first surface of the liquid absorber and to be covered by the lid member. The ribs are in contact with the first surface when the lid member covers the opening. The air communication port communicates air to an internal space of the storage portion. The liquid holding path is provided on a rib adjacent to the air communication port and extends toward the lid member from a contact surface of the adjacent rib. The liquid holding path holds a liquid that has oozed from the first surface of the liquid absorber.

A liquid ejection head includes a recording element substrate. The recording element substrate includes a recording element, a circuit wiring driving the recording element to eject liquid, a protective film, an electrode area, a plating bump, and a resin film having elastic properties. The electrode area electrically connects the circuit wiring to an external circuit through an opening in the protective film. The protective film covers the circuit wiring in an outer adjacent region to the opening to define a step in the protective film. The protective film protects the circuit wiring against the liquid. The plating bump is electrically connected to the electrode area. The resin film covers the step and extends from an inner peripheral region of the opening onto the protective film beyond an edge of the opening. The plating bump includes a part projecting from the electrode area onto an upper surface of the resin film.

An element substrate used in a liquid discharge head that discharges liquid to a recording material includes a substrate, an energy generating element that generates energy used to discharge the liquid, circuit wiring that has an electrode portion for external electrical connection and that drives the energy generating element, and that is implemented on the substrate, a first protective film layer that has an opening portion for exposing the electrode portion and that covers the circuit wiring, an electroplating ground layer formed on the electrode portion, and an electroplated bump layer made of a metal material formed on the electroplating ground layer. A bent portion is formed in the first protective film layer by the first protective film layer covering a protruding portion that the circuit wiring has. A second protective film layer is formed on the first protective film layer and covers the bent portion.

Element substrate, liquid discharge head, and manufacturing method of same

Provided is a liquid storage container that allows for a simplified structure and a reduction in the size and the cost of a printing apparatus. To this end, the liquid storage container includes: two liquid chambers partitioned from each other; a flow path through which liquid can move between the liquid chambers; a valve configured to open and close the flow path; a refilling port that is configured to be opened and closed and through which a liquid chamber can be refilled with the liquid; and a pressure adjustment mechanism that is provided in a liquid chamber configured not to be refilled with the liquid through the refilling port and that adjusts a pressure in the printing head.
