A dispersant for a lubricating oil, containing at least one compound selected from a specific nitrogen-containing compound which is obtained by using, as raw materials, (A) at least one polyolefin selected from polybutene and polyisobutene, (B) at least one maleic acid compound selected from maleic acid and maleic anhydride, and (C) polyamine; a boride of the specific nitrogen-containing compound; and an acylated product of the specific nitrogen-containing compound. The polyolefin (A) satisfies at least one of the following conditions (&#x3b1;) and (&#x3b2;). (&#x3b1;) a ratio (Sb/Sa) of an integrated value (Sb) of a peak present at 4.40 to 5.00 ppm in aH-NMR spectrum to an integrated value (Sa) of a peak present at 5.01 to 5.60 ppm in the 1H-NMR spectrum is 2 or more. Disclosed is a lubricating oil composition for low-friction sliding materials, which is used in a sliding mechanism where a DLC film containing hydrogen in an amount of from 5 atom % to 50 atom % is formed on at least one sliding surface. The lubricating oil composition contains, in the lubricant base oil therein and based on the total amount of the composition, (A) an organic zinc dithiophosphate in an amount of from 0.005% by mass to 0.12% by mass in terms of the phosphorus concentration therein, (B) an amine-based friction-reducing agent in an amount of from 0.05% by mass to 5.0% by mass, and (C) an alkaline earth metal salicylate-based detergent and/or an alkaline earth metal sulfonate-based detergent in an amount of from 0.05% by mass to 0.5% by mass in terms of the alkaline earth metal concentration therein, wherein the component (A) contains, based on the total amount of the composition, a zinc primary dialkyldithiophosphate in an amount of from 0.005% by mass to 0.05% by mass in terms of the phosphorus concentration therein.

The present invention provides a refrigerator oil composition comprising a base oil which is at least one member selected from mineral oils and synthetic oils, and at least one imide compound, said imide compound in an amount of 0.01 to 5% by mass based on the total amount of the refrigerator oil composition, and also provides a compressor and a refrigeration apparatus using the refrigerator oil composition. The refrigerator oil composition and the compressor and the refrigeration apparatus using the refrigerator oil composition satisfy both sludge dispersibility and prevention of wear and seizing of a sliding part made of aluminum and/or iron.

Provided are a borosuccinimide compound obtained through reaction of (a) a succinic acid/anhydride substituted with an alkyl or alkenyl group having a number-average molecular weight of from 200 to 5,000, (b) a polyalkylene-polyamine of which at least 5 mol % has a terminal cyclic structure, and (c) a boron compound; and a succinimide compound obtained through reaction of (A) a succinic acid/anhydride substituted with an alkyl or alkenyl group having a molecular weight of from 200 to 5,000, with (D) a hydrocarbon-substituted polyalkylene-polyamine. These compounds are stable even at high temperatures and have good high-temperature detergency, and they are useful for ashless detergent dispersants having the ability to disperse fine particles. Also provided are a mixture of any of these compounds and a specific ester derivative; a lubricant additive and a fuel oil additive comprising the mixture as the essential ingredient; and a lubricant and a fuel oil composition containing the additive.
