An image processor includes a video processing circuit which converts and processes a video signal. A first image processing circuit further processes the video signal processed by the video processing circuit, with emphasis on image gradation to generate image data matching the recording format of a recording apparatus. A second image processing circuit further processes the video signal processed by the video processing circuit, with emphasis on the sharpness of image contours to generate image data matching the recording format of the recording apparatus. A selecting circuit selects the first or second image processing circuit based on the type of video signal processed by the video processing circuit.

When the color printing is performed using a recording head arranged such that number of nozzles for discharging black ink is greater than the number of nozzles for discharging inks of other colors, the use frequency of some nozzles among all the nozzles for discharging the black ink is higher, so that image unevenness may arise when transferred to the black printing. The present invention relates to an ink jet recording method and an ink jet recording apparatus in which the image unevenness often seen in the black printing involving the use of more nozzles than other colors, and the blur of recorded image seen in the image having black images adjacent color images located are reduced.

It is an object of the present invention to provide an image recording method and apparatus for performing stable image recording with a minimum power consumption. An AND gate performs an AND operation of a clock signal and a printing signal of binary logic in units of pixels, and a transistor is driven. At the driving timing, an induced electromotive force is generated in a choke coil having one end connected to a power supply line. A capacitor is charged with a forward current through a diode. On the other hand, the signal is shift-input to a shift register and latched by a latch circuit in synchronism with a signal. An output from the latch circuit is supplied to a gate circuit in synchronism with a signal to drive a transistor. A current from the capacitor is input to the transistor to heat a heater.

This invention relates to an ink jet recording apparatus with a support member for supporting an ink jet recording head for effecting recording by ink discharge onto a recording material, comprising: recording material transport means for transporting the recording material from a feeding position through a recording position to a discharge position; and recovery means for maintaining and restoring the ink discharge state of said ink jet recording head. The driving source for driving the recording material transport means or support member is also used for driving the recovery means, and, when the power supply to the apparatus is turned on, the initial operations of at least the recording material transport means and the recovery means are conducted utilizing a single sensor.
