A display apparatus according to the present invention has a plurality of electroconductive layers outside of an image display area. Mutually adjacent ones of the electroconductive layers are electrically connected by a resistor. The resistor has a first region, and a second region which is more separated from the image display area than the first region. The area of the second region per unit length in the direction separating from the image display area is smaller than the area of the first region.

A flat panel type display apparatus, which includes: a front substrate having a plurality of phosphor layers, an anode covering at least the plurality of phosphor layers, an electrode for applying a voltage to the anode, and a resistor member connecting the anode to the electrode; and a rear substrate having a plurality of electron-emitting devices corresponding to the plurality of phosphor layers, is characterized by including an insulating layer, and in that the insulating layer overlaps with the resistor member in an area, and isolates the anode formed in the area from the resistor member.

An illuminant substrate includes a substrate, first and second light emitting members provided on the substrate, a first anode covering the first light emitting member, a second anode covering the second light emitting member, a resistor located between the first and second light emitting members and electrically connecting the first and second anodes, and a rib laminated on the resistor. A side face of the resistor facing the first light emitting member projects toward the first light emitting member further than a side face of the rib facing the first light emitting member, and a side face of the resistor facing the second light emitting member projects toward the second light emitting member further than a side face of the rib facing the second light emitting member. In addition, the side faces of the resistor facing the first and second light emitting members are forward tapered faces, the side face of the rib is a reverse tapered face, and the first anode and the second anode are physically divided by the rib.

An image display apparatus including a rear plate and a face plate facing the rear plate; wherein the rear plate includes an electron-emitting device; and the face plate includes a light-emitting body for emitting light through irradiation of electrons from the electron-emitting device, and a metal back arranged between the electron-emitting device and the light-emitting body. The light-emitting body includes a first region in which a luminance with respect to a maximum value of a luminance in the light-emitting body is greater than or equal to 50% and a second region in which the luminance is less than 50%; and an arithmetic mean deviation of the profile (Ra) of the metal back in the second region is larger than the arithmetic mean deviation of the profile (Ra) of the metal back in the first region.

A front substrate of an image display device has a phosphor screen and a metal back layer superposed on the phosphor screen. A plurality of electron emitting elements which emit electrons toward the phosphor screen are located on a rear substrate opposed to the front substrate. Image display device that includes a metal back layer with gaps

A vacuum envelope for cathode-ray tube comprises a panel having a flat outer surface and a convex curved inner surface, and a substantially rectangular fluorescent screen ( ) with an aspect ratio of M:N is formed in this inner surface. In the inner surface of the panel ( ), the gaps &Dgr;H(r), &Dgr;V(r), and &Dgr;D(r) from the center on the horizontal, vertical and diagonal axes of the fluorescent screen ( ) are determined in a specific relationship. By forming a proper curved surface in the inner surface of a panel ( ) whose outer surface is a flat surface, the strength of the vacuum envelope is maintained, deterioration of visual recognition of flatness is suppressed, and, in the color cathode ray tube, the workability of the shadow mask is further enhanced.

Cathode-ray tube

An electron gun which emits three electron beams consisting of a center beam and paired side beams arranged in line in the horizontal axis is arranged in the neck of the vacuum envelope. A neck-side orbital correction coil unit for over-converging the side beams running toward the peripheral portion of a phosphor screen and a panel-side orbital correction coil unit for under-converging the side beams running toward the peripheral portion of the phosphor screen are provided between the cathode of the electron gun and the phosphor screen. The panel-side orbital correction coil unit has four orbital correction coils provided inside the magnetic core of a deflection yoke. Each orbital correction coil includes paired coil wires extending in the tube axis direction. One of the coil wires is positioned at an angle of 10 to 30&deg; to the vertical axis, and the current flows from the neck side toward the panel through this coil wire. The other coil wires are positioned at an angle of 60 to 90&deg; to the vertical axis, and the current flows from the panel side toward the neck through this coil.

Cathode ray tube having multiple sets of orbital correction coils

A color cathode-ray tube having at least one trajectory correction device including a plurality of trajectory correction coils, and a current supply circuit for supplying current to these coils. The trajectory correction device functions to over-converge or under-converge a pair of side beams at a peripheral portion of the phosphor screen relative to a center of the phosphor screen. The trajectory correction device produces a magnetic field such that there is a position in the produced magnetic field where no force is exerted on the three electron beams. This position is separated from a plane including a tube axis, and a first direction or a second direction. In this color cathode-ray tube apparatus with this structure, no degradation occurs in focusing or distortion characteristics even where the trajectory correction device is provided, for example, in realizing a flat screen by using a press-formed shadow mask.
