Provided is a composition for the treatment and/or prevention of Alzheimer's disease having an improved therapeutic or prophylactic effect together with reduced side effects. This composition for the treatment and/or prevention of Alzheimer's disease contains at least one compound selected from the group consisting of glycerophosphocholine (G) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof as a first active ingredient and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of herperidin (H), narirutin (N), and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof as a second active ingredient. This composition promotes remyelination, promotes the activity of &#x3b1;-secretase, and also suppresses the expression of &#x3b2;-secretase.

Composition for treatment of Alzheimer's disease

A pharmaceutical for prevention and treatment of demyelination-associated neural function impairing diseases contains erythropoietin as an active ingredient, and protectively act on the survival of oligodendrocytes, which form a myelin sheath, in cerebrovascular dementia typified by multiple sclerosis and Binswanger disease, diseases involving demyelination. The pharmaceutical and method also promote maturation of undifferentiated oligodendrocytes present in the brain, activating remyelination. Through these mechanisms, the pharmaceutical and method can prevent and treat demyelination-associated neural function impairing diseases.

Pharmaceutical for prevention and treatment of demyelinating disease

The present invention provides pharmaceutical compositions composing, as an active ingredient, a substance capable of activating the &#x3b3; chain of Fc receptors (FcR&#x3b3;) (provided that the substance is not an immunoglobulin for intravenous injection), and agents for stimulating myelinogenesis. The invention also provides agents for stimulating the differentiation of oligodendroglial precursor cells, agents for activating Fyn tyrosine kinase, and agents for stimulating the expression of myelin basic protein, all comprising a substance capable of activating FcR&#x3b3; as an active ingredient. Further, the invention provides a method of detecting myelinogenetic oligodendroglias or precursor cells thereof which comprises using the expression of FcR&#x3b3; in oligodendroglias or precursor cells thereof as an indicator.
