A printing device includes a head, an irradiation unit and a controller. The head is configured and arranged to eject a liquid onto a medium. The irradiation unit is configured and arranged to radiate active rays for curing the liquid on the medium. The irradiation unit is relatively movable with respect to the medium. The controller is configured to decrease radiation of the active rays of the irradiation unit when a time in which the irradiation unit relatively passes over an entire length of the medium has elapsed since start of lighting of the irradiation unit.

Printing device

A inkjet printer includes an ejection head, a curing-light-emitting part, a head retaining part, a relative scanning part, a drive output detecting part, and a curing-light-emission-control part. The ejection head ejects a photocuring liquid onto a printing medium retained by a medium retaining part. The curing-light-emitting part emits curing light onto the printing medium. The head retaining part retains the ejection head and the curing light emitting part. The relative scanning part performs relative movement of the head retaining part and the medium retaining part. The drive output detecting part detects an output of a drive source of the relative scanning part. The curing-light-emission-control part controls the curing-light-emitting part based on a detection result from the drive output detecting part.

Inkjet printer and control method for inkjet printer

A printing device includes a discharge head, an irradiation unit and a controller. The discharge head is configured and arranged to discharge droplets of a liquid curable by active rays onto a substrate while the discharge head and the substrate move relative to each other. The irradiation unit is configured and arranged to radiate the active rays to the droplets on the substrate. The irradiation unit is provided behind the discharge head with respect to a direction of a relative movement. The controller is configured to turn off the irradiation unit when a predetermined time has elapsed since start of lighting of the irradiation unit.

Gas discharge is caused in a predetermined discharging gas at atmospheric pressure or a pressure close to atmospheric pressure, and an organic material which is liquid at room temperature and which is previously contained in the discharging gas or applied to a surface of a treated member is dissociated or excited by a plasma caused by the gas discharge to generate activated species. By using these excited activated species, a polymerized film of organic material is formed on the surface of the treated member. By variously selecting the organic material or the kind of the discharging material and variously combining them, a water repellent film, a hydrophilic film or a film having a high hardness can easily be formed on the surface of the treated member according to use, or the polymerization speed of the organic material can be increased, or the polymerization can be limited. Further, the adhesion of an organic polymerized film essentially low can be improved with respect to a treated member formed of an inorganic material such as glass or some inactive organic material if the organic material or the kind of gas is used while being changed.
