A disclosed terminal processing structure for a sealed wire includes a terminal to which a core exposed by tearing off is to be connected, a connector housing in which the sealed wire is disposed with the core connected to the terminal and the braided wire exposed by tearing off, and a shielding wall disposed in the connector housing to shield and insulate between the core exposed by tearing off and the braided wire exposed by tearing off. Further, a disclosed terminal processing method for the sealed wire includes steps of preparing the sealed wire, preparing a terminal, exposing the core by tearing off, exposing the braided wire by tearing off, connecting the sealed wire to the terminal by connecting the core exposed by tearing off to the terminal, and providing the sealed wire connected to the terminal such that it is overlaid between a core accommodating hole of the connector housing and an outer cover accommodating hole of the connector housing so as to shield and insulate between the core exposed by tearing off and the braided wire exposed by tearing off by the shielding wall.

In a connector with a terminal stopper attached according to the invention, a terminal stopper to be fitted in the rear of a connector housing is provided with a guide bar, a connector housing is provided with an introduction section and the terminal stopper is fitted into the connector housing by inserting the guide bar in the introduction section. A rear holder cover of a waterproof connector is provided which remains secured to a connector housing despite being subjected to substantial external forces. The rear holder cover contains a rear cover which is inserted in a connector housing and a plurality of hinge connection portions each having a first end and a second end. The first end of each of the plurality of hinge connection portions is connected to the rear holder, and the second end of each of the plurality of hinge connection portions is connected to a plurality of half covers. The plurality of hinge connection portions are flexible such that the plurality of half covers are pivotally movable in a direction perpendicular to a direction of insertion of the rear holder into the connector housing. Furthermore, each of the plurality of half covers comprises a projection portion and a projection receiving portion. The projection portion of each of the plurality of half covers respectively engages the projection receiving portion of each adjacent half cover so as to secure the rear holder cover on the connector housing. Therefore, the rear holder cover remains secured to the connector housing even if hinges connecting the rear holder to the half covers break and if external forces act on the plurality of half covers and the rear holder.

A waterproof connector (1) comprises: a connector housing (30) having an opening (5) engaged with a mated connector housing; a packing (10) disposed within the opening of the connector housing, for sealing a space between the two mated connector housings, at least one part (10a) of the packing being exposed outside through at least one hole (12) formed in the connector housing; and a protective cover (40) selectively attached to the connector housing from the outside at need, for covering at least one exposed part (10a) of the packing according to the required degree of connector waterproof characteristics. The protective cover is preferably formed of a hard plastic resin and preferably formed with locking elements (48, 50) locked with other locking elements (28, 28a) formed in the connector housing. When the protective cover (40) is attached to the connector housing, the waterproof connector is usable for a connector disposed under an engine for an automotive vehicle as a waterproof connector resistant against a high-pressure washing water jet stream.

A waterproof cover for a connector includes a rear holder portion attached to a rear portion of a connector housing to hold terminals inserted into terminal insertion holes of the connector housing from a rear side of the connector housing; and a waterproof cover portion attached to a rear side of the rear holder portion to cover wires extending rearward from the terminals. The waterproof cover has a pair of first and second cover halves; a hinge for linking a pair of the first and second cover halves so as to be opened and closed relative to each other; and a lock mechanism for locking a pair of the first and second cover halves when the two cover halves are closed. In particular, a front end surface of the first cover half is formed integrally with an outer circumference of the rear holder portion so as to form an end surface plate of the first cover half along roughly all over the circumference of the first cover half. Therefore, even if the hinge is broken or damaged, the waterproof cover will not be removed from the rear holder portion.

Waterproof cover for connector

A connector with a protective cover for exposed electrical terminals. The connector includes a housing having an opening formed on one side thereof through which electrical contacts of terminals are exposed. The protective cover includes an insulating protector for covering the opening of the connector and a housing holder detachably assembled to the housing. The insulating protector has a protective plate and two arms extending in the same direction from the longitudinal ends of the protective plate. Each of the arms has a projection and is rotatably assembled at distal end thereof to the housing holder. The housing holder has a closing-position locking groove and an opening-position locking groove, which are provided about rotating axis of the arms and angularly spaced apart from each other. The protective plate closes the opening of the connector A when the projection is received in the closing-position locking groove, and opens the opening when the projection is received in the opening-position locking groove.
