An ink jet recording apparatus that executes ink jet recording based on multi-pass recording and that achieves a high glossiness and a low granularity is provided. Based on information corresponding to an ink discharge amount, distribution and concentration masks are selected for low and high duty areas of a recorded image, respectively.

Ink jet recording apparatus and ink jet recording system using pixel division patterns

It is an object of this invention to provide an inkjet printing apparatus that can print an image with high uniformity in image clarity and gloss level irrespective of the gradation value of the image. The print head of this invention can eject color inks and an image quality improvement liquid that changes at least the gloss level or image clarity of the image. The print head scans over same print areas of a print medium to form an image and at the same time applies the image quality improvement liquid onto the image. A control unit raises the volume of the image quality improvement liquid applied to unit areas in a relatively subsequent scan to the volume of the image quality improvement liquid applied to unit areas in a relatively preceding scan at a rate that corresponds to the volume of the color ink applied to the unit areas.

Inkjet printing apparatus and inkjet printing method

An image processing method includes the steps of converting input image data to ink color data corresponding to each amount of a plurality of colors of achromatic inks used for printing, and generating printing data for first, second and third achromatic inks based on the ink color data. The printing data is used for printing by causing a printing head to scan a common image area in a printing medium a plurality of times, the printing head ejecting the plurality of colors of inks. An inkjet printing device uses a print head including a first nozzle array for ink ejection and a second nozzle array for ejection of an image quality improvement liquid (CL), and the device prints an image on a print medium by repeating a print scan. The inkjet printing device includes a first controller for, during a first print scan, allowing nozzles on an upstream side of the first nozzle array in the conveying direction to eject the ink, and a second controller for, during the first print scan, allowing nozzles on an upstream side of the second nozzle array in the conveying direction to eject the liquid (CL) into an ink ejection area. In aaddition, a third controller, during a second print scan after the first print scan, allows nozzles on a downstream side of the second nozzle array in the conveying direction to eject the liquid (CL) into the ink ejection area.

Inkjet printing device and method

There is provided an inkjet printing apparatus which can restrict each of coloring of reflected light and image clarity within an allowable range required in each of a color mode and a monochromatic mode in any of the modes to output an image with a high grade. For this end, a print duty of each of the first image improving liquid and the second image improving liquid is set in such a manner that a ratio of the print duty of the first image improving liquid having low penetratability to the print duty of the second image improving liquid having high penetratability is higher in the monochromatic mode than that in the color mode. An apparatus is configured to perform recording with at least three types of inks that are similar in color and different in pigment density.
