A method provides techniques for electronic device customization based on environmental and location data. The method includes obtaining, on an electronic device, from one or more data sources, context data associated with one or more of the user and the electronic device. A device context is determined based on the context data. The method includes loading a customization display theme for the electronic device, based on the device context, and presenting the customized display theme within a user interface displayed on the display of the electronic device.

A method provides techniques for electronic device display screen customization based on image information. The method includes detecting, by at least one processor of an electronic device that comprises an electronic display and an image capturing device, a self-photo within received image content from the image capturing device. The method includes determining a user context from information within the received image content, and loading a customization display theme for the electronic device, based on the user context, wherein the customization display theme includes one or more theme elements.

An electronic device includes one or more sensors, a device housing, and a blade assembly configured to translate around the device housing between an extended position, a retracted position, and a peek position. The electronic device includes one or more processors that, in response to the one or more sensors detecting the electronic device being handed from a first person to a second person, cause the blade assembly to translate around the device housing when signals received from the one or more sensors indicate hands of the second person are differently sized compared to other hands of the first person.

Generally, a computing device displays, on a display device of the computing device, a barcode to be read by a scanning device. When a barcode is displayed on the display device a determination is made as to whether the barcode is not fully displayed on the display device due to hardware of the computing device such as a punch hole in the display device for a camera, speaker, or microphone. If the barcode is not fully displayed due to the hardware of the computing device, the display of the barcode is modified so that the barcode is fully displayed on the display device despite the hardware of the computing device. Additionally or alternatively, if the scanning device has not completed the scan within a threshold amount of time, the display of the barcode on the display device is modified, such as by increasing or decreasing the resolution of the barcode.

Modifying a barcode display to facilitate barcode scanning

A device includes two cameras, a front facing camera and a back facing camera. In response to a request to use one camera (e.g., the back facing camera) with particular functionality of an application, the application queries a system to verify whether the user is authenticated and authorized to use the camera with the particular functionality of the application. This authentication and authorization is performed based on an image of the user captured using another camera of the device (e.g., the front facing camera). Depending on whether the user is authenticated and authorized to use the camera with the particular functionality of the application, the particular functionality is performed using the camera, secondary (e.g., lesser) functionality is performed using the camera, or no functionality is performed using the camera.

Application functionality authentication and authorization in a multi-camera system

For responding to a notification displayed in an Always on Display ('AoD') mode with a voice command, a method displays notifications in at least one of a full power mode or an AoD mode, parses a notification to determine a notification type. The method also determines, while in the AoD mode, if the notification supports voice responses. If the notification supports voice response, the method receives a voice command from a user and authorizes the user based on the voice command, bypasses a screen lock, in response to the user being authorized, and executes the voice command.

Method and apparatus for enabling context-based voice responses to always-on-display notifications

Apparatuses, methods, program products, and systems are disclosed for language-based muting during multiuser communications. A method includes determining, by use of a processor, a language of speech being spoken by a user of a plurality of users communicating over a network, comparing the determined language to one or more languages that each of the plurality of users has in common, and muting the speech in response to the determined language not matching a language of the one or more languages that each of the plurality of users has in common.

When the context of a user indicates that tactile input to a mobile device on an interactive voice response (IVR) call is not feasible or desirable and the IVR downlink audio does not provide for a voice response option, the user nonetheless is prompted to respond by voice. The user's response is used to programmatically select the correct key by, e.g., sending the DTMF tone corresponding to the user's response on the uplink back to the IVR system.

Different call managing techniques are described for both voice calls and video calls. A call management system detects that a user is on an active call. The call management system detects that the user has continued to speak when the call was disconnected, as by another user terminating the call or poor network conditions. When the call management system detects a disconnected call, it records the spoken speech into a buffer and determines which portion of the user's speech was not processed and communicated to the other user. The user whose call was terminated is provided with an option to provide the un-communicated speech to the other user. Options can include sending a text version of the un-communicated speech to the other user or sending a voice file to the other user.

Managing calls

A method and apparatus for voice enrolling an electronic computing device includes a networked server configured to receive voice data over a first communication connection from a first electronic computing device, wherein the voice data comprises a user-specific launch phrase spoken by a user. The networked server is further configured to receive an indication of a second electronic computing device to voice enroll and to initiate voice enrollment of the second electronic computing device over a second communication connection using the voice data.
