An implant includes: a sinusoidal container that includes: a plurality of projections; a plurality of troughs; and a plurality of smooth interfaces, wherein a smooth interface is interposed between a projection and an adjacent trough for the plurality of projections, troughs, and interfaces to provide a smooth continuous transition between adjacent projections and troughs. A process for making an implant includes: forming a sinusoidal container from a polymer, the sinusoidal container including: a plurality of projections; a plurality of troughs; and a plurality of smooth interfaces, wherein a smooth interface is interposed between a projection and an adjacent trough for the plurality of projections, troughs, and interfaces to provide a smooth continuous transition between adjacent projections and troughs; and providing a filling tube attached to the sinusoidal container to make the implant.

Hybrid breast implant, method for making and using same

A morselizer comprising (a) a hollow cylindrical structure with an inner wall and an outer wall and comprising a first end section, a second end section, and a center section extending axially between the first end section and the second end section providing a substantially axial liquid pathway therein; (b) wherein each end section comprises a axially and radially hollow luer fitting that is attachable to a structure with a complementarily sized luer fitting; and (c) one or more blades extending transversally across the inner diameter of the center section wherein (i) each blade is comprised of a plurality of ends, including a posterior end secured to at least the center wall section inner wall at a center section inner wall first position and an anterior end proximal a center section inner wall second position opposite the center section inner wall first position, with a gap positioned between the blade anterior end and the center section inner wall second position, and (ii) at least two ends comprise cutting ends.

Luer to luer tissue morselizer

A morselizer has a first end section with an axially and radially hollow luer fitting, a second end section with an axially and radially hollow luer fitting, a housing juxtaposed therebetween, a channel extending axially between the first end section and the second end section and through the housing providing an axial liquid pathway therein, and at least one blade disposed within the housing. Each end of the morselizer is attachable to a structure with a complimentarily sized luer fitting. In an embodiment, the morselizer facilitates atraumatic resizing of material through axial liquid transfer, by transferring material from a first structure attached to the first end section, thence through the channel, where material is resized by the blade, and through the second end section to a second structure attached to the second end section. The resized material may be suitable for injection, such as through a fine needle.

A self supporting breast implant includes a generally cone shaped partially absorbable medical mesh support member and a silicone shell defining a hollow core that is preferably filled or partially filled with a silicone gel. The support member is made of a polypropolene/poliglecaprone monofilament and may be attached to a patient's tissue by sutures or by absorbable hooks.

Self supporting and forming breast implant and method for forming and supporting an implant in a human body

A self supporting breast implant includes a generally cone shaped partially absorbable medical mesh support member and a silicone shell defining a hollow core that is preferably filled or partially filled with a silicone gel. The support member is made of a polypropolene/poliglecaprone monofilament and may be attached to a patient's tissue by sutures or by absorbable hooks. A textured outer surface or shell is formed around the relatively smooth implant or inner shell and the inner shell is reduced in size to provide a small space between the inner shell and the outer shell to eliminate or at least minimize the adverse effects of capsular contraction.

Self supporting implant in a human body and method for making the same without capsular contracture

An adjustable gel filled mammary implant includes inner and outer envelopes with the outer envelope containing about 95% of its volume filled with a silicone gel or the like. The inner envelope is attached to a bottom portion of the outer envelope and defines a volume of about 5%&#x2013;10% of the volume of the outer envelope and is filled with saline. The implant also includes a self-sealing valve, filling tube and mini-reservoir for adjusting the size of the implant. A method for implanting, adjusting the size and removal of the filling tube and mini-reservoir are also disclosed.

Adjustable gel filled mammary prosthesis and method

A dual lumen gravity oriented breast prosthesis or implant for surgical implantation includes inner and outer lumens which are defined by inner and outer closed envelopes of a medical grade elastomer. The outer closed envelope or lumen defines a generally oval or tear-shape with upper and lower portions. The outer envelope also contains a quantity of fluid material as for example a silicone gel having a first density. The prosthesis also includes a second or inner lumen defined by a second closed envelope of medical grade elastomer which is disposed in and fixed in the lower portion of the outer closed envelope. The inner lumen may be of various shapes such as generally spherical or preferably crescent shape. The second lumen is filled with a saline solution which has a density which is greater than the density in the outer lumen. The inner lumen with its greater density maintains or returns the prosthesis to its predetermined orientation when an individual in whom the prosthesis is implanted is in a standing or sitting position.

Self positioning breast prosthesis

Apparatus is disclosed for performing liposuction in which the reciprocal motion of the cannula during the operation is automated. The apparatus includes a housing, a cannula and reciprocating arrangement to provide the motion for the cannula. In one arrangement, the suction being applied to the cannula to remove fatty tissue has the negative pressure created by the suction applied to the cannula to reciprocate it. In a second embodiment, a permanent magnet piston attached to the cannula is reciprocated by the use of electromagnets which simultaneously change polarity to apply a reciprocating force to the permanent magnet piston.

Reciprocating liposuction device

An inflatable implant for use in human breast reconstruction includes a chamber which is defined by a flexible membrane. The implant also includes a valve and a flexible filling tube which passes through the valve and into the chamber. The valve comprises a short semi-rigid tube that surrounds an opening in the membrane and extend inwardly of the membrane and into the chamber. The semi-rigid tube defines a passageway extending therethrough and also defines a relatively small reservoir which opens into the passageway. A filling tube comprises a soft and flexible length of tubing and a solid portion has an outer diameter which is slightly larger than the inner diameter of the semi-rigid tube and is stretchable longitudinally to reduce its outer diameter to facilitate passage through the semi-rigid tube. And the solid portion is adapted to sealingly engage the semi-rigid tube upon relaxation thereof.

Filling tube and seal construction

A method for removing fatty tissue from a patient includes the steps of inserting an aspirating cannula into the fatty tissue of the body, removing the fatty tissue in the vicinity of an internal layer of the patient's skin and traumatizing the skin adjacent to the area from which fatty tissue is removed. The method is generally carried out by means of an improved aspirating cannula which includes a longitudinally extending tubular member, an opening at one end thereof and a plurality of integrally formed projecting members surrounding the openings. The projecting members are relatively narrow and thin and extend radially outwardly and longitudinally. An annular member which is angularly disposed with respect to the longitudinally projecting member and of similar width and thickness connects the longitudinal members and is effective in breaking down fat tissue without cutting blood vessels or nerves during reciprocal movements of the cannula. The annular member is effective for traumatizing the internal layer of skin adjacent to the area where fatty tissue is removed and causes the skin to shrink in that area.

Cannula and method for liposuction

A valve for use in a fluid fillable and implantable device in cooperation with a fill tube includes a main body portion having a channel for receiving the fill tube and wherein the main body portion has an unevenly stressed section that includes a selected section of the channel and wherein the unevenly stressed section is stressed so that the selected section of the channel folds back occluding the channel when the fill tube is withdrawn. The valve also includes a gel-filled chamber in which the main body portion is disposed. The main body portion includes a free end that is occluded by the gel once the fill tube has been withdrawn from the fill tube channel.

Self-sealing valve for implantable device

An implant and inflating valve construction which includes separate inner and outer membranes each having a separate valve. The outer membrane contains a viscous gel and the inner membrane is inflatable by saline through a removable soft filling tube which passes through the valves. The gel helps seal the valves and around the filling tube when it is in place. The filling tube is stretched during insertion and removal.

Implant and inflating construction

The disclosure relates to a tissue expander/stent or splint for use by a plastic surgeon in the reconstruction of a nipple in a human breast and to a method for splinting a reconstructed nipple. The stent is made of soft pliable material and defines a generally frusto conically shaped segment with a short cylindrical tubular element extending outwardly therefrom. The stent also includes a rigid ring which is encompassed by the tubular element. The method of splinting includes the steps of forcing the conical segment downward onto the breast, and suturing the reconstructed nipple to the stent so that the resiliency of the conical segment maintains the sutures under tension and tends to pull the nipple upwardly during healing.
