The invention relates to a process for producing a sliding body made up of a base body and a slide plate with a running surface arranged on the base body, wherein the slide plate and the base body are joined to one another by capacitor discharge welding. It is preferable for sliding bodies of this type to be used as a sliding shoe for hydrostatic piston engines. The running surface of the slide plate is made of a nonferrous-metal sliding bearing material produced by spray-compacting and, in particular, is made of a copper-tin-titanium alloy produced by spray-compacting and contains 13.5 to 20% by weight of tin, 0.05 to 0.5% by weight of titanium, remainder copper and optionally one or more of the elements selected from silicon, chromium and zirconium up to a total amount of 1.0% by weight, plus inevitable impurities.

Sliding body and process for producing a sliding body, and its use

Cracking of a crucible can cause heavy damage to the system in melting furnaces. A reliable monitoring of threatening breaking out of the melt is therefore needed. For this purpose a monitoring device for melting furnaces is provided to monitor the breaking out of melt and includes a closed circuit consisting of several conductor sections with at least a partially conducting surface and a measuring/displaying device. A first conductor section is series connected through an ohmic resistor R to a second conductor section. The first conductor section is arranged directly adjacent, however, electrically isolatingly spaced from and with respect to the second conductor section.

Monitoring device for melting furnaces

A method for the manufacture of tools and components for the offshore field and the mining industry, in particular, for drilling installations, using a spray formed Cu&#x2014;Ni&#x2014;Mn alloy of 10 to 25% Ni, 10 to 25% Mn, the remainder being copper and common impurities. Due to the favorable characteristics of the combination, the alloy is suitable as a replacement material for Be-containing copper materials.

Method of using a spray formed copper-nickel-manganese alloy

A Cu-Ni-Mn alloy which consists of 15 to 25% Ni; 15 to 25% Mn; 0.001 to 1.0% of a chip-breaking additive (lead, carbon, etc.), the remainder being copper and common impurities. The alloy can preferably be used as a replacement material for Be-containing copper materials for the manufacture of disconnectable electrical connections or for the manufacture of tools and components for the offshore field and the mining industry.

Copper-nickel-manganese alloy, products made therefrom and method of manufacture of products therefrom

A copper alloy contains from 4 to 20 wt. % tin and various other metals. The alloys can be used in the manufacture of structural parts which are joined together through the use of heat such as jewelry, clothing accessories and mechanically stressed structural parts in a general machine-building or automotive industry. Iron, titanium, zirconium, hafnium, manganese, zinc, phosphorus and lead can also be present in the alloy composition.

Copper-tin alloys and uses thereof

A copper-tin-titanium alloy which consists of 12 to 20% by weight tin, 0.002 to 1% by weight titanium, remainder copper and usual impurities. It is possible to add further elements. Semifinished products made from the copper alloy according to the invention are preferably produced by thin-strip casting or spray compacting. Due to a particularly advantageous combination of high mechanical strength properties with excellent ductility, combined with good resistance to corrosion, semifinished products made from the copper alloy according to the invention have numerous possible uses.

Copper-tin-titanium alloy

A method provides for contactless measurement of the range between a transceiver unit for microwaves in the frequency band from 1 to 100 GHz and an object to be investigated using a pulse principle. The microwaves are focused onto the surface by an antenna to detect the contour of the object. In particular, the surface of a bolt produced using a spray compacting method can be detected.

A casting device for the continuous manufacture of a thin metal strip (2) which includes a rotating, cooled conveyor belt guided by guide rollers (3, 4), and a melt distributor (5) juxtaposed the conveyor belt (2) and from which metal melt (7) is fed onto the conveyor belt (2) and is solidified. In order to do away with underpressure in the casting device, the melt distributor (5) includes a distributor base having a surface which extends essentially tangential of a surface of the belt on the guide roller and at a centerpoint angle in front of the apex point (12:00 o'clock position) of the front guide roller (3), viewed in direction of movement of the conveyor belt (2)), that is in the range of 5.degree. to 20.degree.. The front quids roller (3) is cooled at least in the area thereof defined by the respective center-point angle .alpha..

Casting device for the continuous manufacture of metal strip

A method and an apparatus for the continuous manufacture of a metal strip (1) with near net shape. The metal melt (6) is fed from a melt distributor (5) through a casting nozzle (15) onto a rotating, cooled conveyor belt (2) and solidified. In the operating condition, the melt level is controlled in the melt distributor (5) as a function of the desired strip thickness d of the metal strip (1). In the melt distributor (5) there is initially adjusted a fill level (A), which corresponds at a maximum with the conveyor belt plane (E). Such a fill level (B) then is adjusted such that the melt (6) completely displaces the air from the area (11, 14) in front of the casting nozzle (15) and from the casting nozzle (15). In the operating condition, the fill level (C) is controlled some millimeters above the level (D) of the liquid metal on the conveyor belt (E) so that the melt (6) flows out of the casting nozzle (15) according to the pipette principle.
