For forming a group or rows of nozzles in a substrate of an ink-jet head, firstly, a laser irradiation source and a masking material in which a plurality of holes arranged in two rows are formed, are arranged on an upper side of a position at which one group of rows of nozzles of the substrate is formed. Next, an ultraviolet laser is irradiated from an upper side of the masking material, and a laser which has passed through the masking material is irradiated on the substrate. Two rows of nozzles are formed in a portion of the substrate at which the ultraviolet laser is irradiated. Accordingly, by irradiation of the laser once, it is possible to form a plurality of nozzles arranged in a row.

A method of manufacturing an ink jet printing head includes: forming a first laminated structure by laminating at least two metal plates having a hole formed thereon and fixing the metal plates to one another by metal-metal junction, and by laminating a plurality of thin plate members having a hole formed thereon, the thin plate members including the metal plates, and fixing the thin plate members to one another; forming a second laminated structure that includes at least a part of a common ink chamber, by laminating a plurality of thin plate members having a hole formed thereon and fixing the thin plate members to one another; and fixing the first laminated structure and the second laminated structure to each other while laminating the first laminated structure and the second laminated structure on each other.

A nozzle plate is provided with nozzle orifices through which ink is to be ejected, the nozzle orifices being formed by an excimer laser. A manufacturing process for manufacturing the nozzle plate in which the nozzle orifices are formed by the excimer laser uses a working lens having a numerical aperture (NA) set to 0.13 or more and 0.35 or less.

Laser processing method to form an ink jet nozzle plate

A nozzle plate has a repellent film formed on or over a nozzle sheet. The repellent film is made by adding an emulsion polymer ultraviolet ray absorbent agent to a fluorine-based polymer. In this nozzle plate, an out-of-roundness of a nozzle formed on the repellent film side of the nozzle plate is smaller, so that variations in the propulsion direction of the ejected ink drops are reduce. Particularly, when the weight percentage of the emulsion polymer ultraviolet ray absorbent agent exceeds 20%, the shape of the nozzle hole formed on the water and oil repellent film side of the nozzle plate has a roundness of 2 .mu.m or less. Accordingly, few variations in the propulsion direction of the ejected ink drops occur, providing superior print quality.

Laser workable nozzle plate of ink jet apparatus and method for forming

A laser processing apparatus which is high in production efficiency, and capable of easily and automatically changing processing heads from one to another according to the type of the thermal processing to be done is disclosed. The laser processing apparatus includes a plurality of processing heads composed of a processing head for cutting work, a processing head for welding work and a processing head for hardening work. The laser processing apparatus moves one processing head toward a processing position with respect to the frame having a laser beam generator by a processing head driving unit. The apparatus includes a workpiece moving system for moving a workpiece with respect to the processing head positioned in the processing position. The device for manufacturing a nozzle of the present invention changes the spot diameter of the laser beam on the plate. Therefore, the time period for forming an orifice hole in the nozzle can be shortened.

Device for manufacturing a nozzle and its manufacturing method

A method of optically coupling one end of an optical fiber to a waveguide formed on a substrate, such that an end portion of the fiber is fitted in a groove formed in the substrate. The groove is formed by forming a beam-shielding mask having a cutout, on the substrate such that the cutout is aligned with a part of the substrate in which the groove is formed, and by irradiating the above-indicated part of the substrate with a high-energy beam. Alternatively, the groove is formed by a cutting tool. An inclined end surface of the groove left uncut by the tool may be irradiated with a high-energy beam, through a beam-shielding mask which has a cutout aligned with the inclined end surface. The end of the optical fiber, which has a flat face or has a coned or hemi-spherical shape, is positioned for optical coupling with a portion of the waveguide which is exposed to the groove.
