A hydrodynamic catheter includes a catheter body with a catheter lumen and an infusion tube extending within the catheter body, the infusion tube configured for coupling with a fluid source near the catheter proximal portion. An inflow orifice and an outflow orifice are positioned at locations along a catheter body perimeter. A fluid jet emanator is in fluid communication with the infusion tube, where the fluid jet emanator includes one or more jet orifices configured to direct one or more fluid jets through the catheter lumen from near the inflow orifice toward the outflow orifice. A pivot cylinder located along the catheter body perimeter is positioned distal relative to one or more of the fluid jet emanator, the inflow orifice, or the outflow orifice.

Hydrodynamic eccentrically pivoting catheter

An infusion flow guidewire and a system including an infusion flow guidewire. The minimal cross section flexible infusion flow guidewire includes a nitinol hypotube, a flexible tip having a closed distal end, a coil, a core wire and at least one distally located rearwardly directed jet orifice for infusion of fibrinolytics and for introduction of high pressure fluids for maceration and rearwardly directed flow of thrombus debris located in tortuous small sized vessels. Apparatus, some of which is removably attachable, is provided in the system for grasping members of the invention for rotational torqueing and for longitudinal actuation along and within the vasculature.

Infusion flow guidewire system

An infusion flow guidewire system and method of use. The infusion flow guidewire system includes a delivery sheath and an infusion flow guidewire. The minimal cross section flexible infusion flow guidewire includes a flexible tip having a closed distal end, a coil, a core wire and at least one distally located jet orifice for infusion of fibrinolytics and for introduction of high pressure fluids for maceration and rearwardly directed flow of thrombus debris located in tortuous small sized vessels. Apparatus, some of which is removably attachable, is provided for grasping members of the invention for rotational torqueing and for longitudinal actuation along and within the vasculature.

A rapid exchange fluid jet thrombectomy device having a streamlined manifold and a catheter having multiple tubular segments where each tubular segment increases in flexibility in a distal direction. Torque response and pushability is enhanced by the arrangement of a proximally located tubular segment composed of a polymer-jacketed spiral metal tube in combination with an intermediate tubular section and a distal tubular section each having different degrees of flexibility. A guidewire tube exit region is provided where the intermediate tubular section joins the distal tubular section for over-the-wire guidewire usage. The polymer-jacketed spiral metal tube can extend along a partial or full length of the catheter and can include a basic continuous spiral cut which has regions of constant pitch or which has progressively increasing pitch, or in the alternative, can include an interlocking spiral cut having constant pitch regions or progressively decreasing pitch.

Rapid exchange fluid jet thrombectomy device and method

A dual lumen aspiration catheter system with an aspiration catheter, a hub and a flexible strain relief, and a suction assembly. The aspiration catheter includes multiple successively connected flexible tubular components each increasing in relative flexibility in the distal direction, the most proximal tubular component connectingly extending from the hub and through the flexible strain relief. The tubular components of the aspiration catheter include, in order proximally to distally, a composite tube, an intermediate tube, a dual lumen tube, and a flexible tip tube. The dual lumen tube includes eccentrically co-located large and small tubular portions forming eccentrically co-located large and small lumens to provide a minimum cross section. The distal end of the dual lumen tube includes a convex beveled edge. The convex beveled edge and the flexible tip tube singly or jointly inflict minimal traumatic contact with a vessel wall when urged along a tortuous vascular path.

Dual lumen aspiration catheter system

A miniature cross stream thrombectomy catheter useful in small blood vessel thrombectomy procedures. An annulus near the distal end of the miniature cross stream thrombectomy catheter is formed between a hypo-tube and a proximally directed bore of a concentrically aligned flow director whereby jet orifices in the hypo-tube communicate with the annulus to direct jet flows of saline or other fluid around and about the annulus and to be directed proximally from the annulus to pass through one or more outflow orifices and thence to pass through one or more inflow orifices thereby creating an ablation flow therebetween which loosens and carries away thrombotic materials from the walls of a blood vessel.

Miniature cross stream thrombectomy catheter

A thrombectomy catheter system with occluder and method of using same for removal of tissue, such as thrombus and the like, from a vessel in the body. Multiple catheters and an occluder-bearing guidewire tube at a thrombus site provide for expandable deployment of a compliant occluder against the vasculature walls distal to the thrombus. The expanded occluder is maneuvered proximally to urge thrombus into close proximity with a retractable capture cone located distally on a capture catheter where the thrombus is dislodged, entrained, and broken into pieces by the action of a fluid jet emanator and then evacuated through the capture catheter.

Thrombectomy catheter system with occluder and method of using same

A tubular guidewire assembly having a distal occlusive device and an extended crimpable section proximate a proximal end that is adapted to connect to a gas inflation/evacuation system. The extended crimpable section can be selectively sealed at one of a plurality of separate locations to form an airtight seal of the tubular guidewire assembly. Each time a deflation of the occlusive device is desired in order to reestablish blood flow to a vessel downstream of the occlusive device, the extended crimpable section preferably is cut distal to the location of the last seal to quickly deflate the occlusive device.

A single operator exchange fluid jet thrombectomy device having an outer catheter assembly and separable and exchangeable components in the form of an inner catheter assembly allowing functioning as a rheolytic thrombectomy catheter or as a crossflow thrombectomy catheter. Embodiments include an outer catheter assembly common to any mode of usage having a guide catheter having a lumen through which a guidewire and the greater portion of a hypo-tube carrying a flow director are passed and advanced. For use as a rheolytic thrombectomy catheter, thrombus is dislodged, entrained, and broken into pieces by jets and evacuated through the lumen of the guide catheter. For use as a crossflow thrombectomy catheter, a flow director having outflow and inflow orifices is provided.

Single operator exchange fluid jet thrombectomy device

A single operator exchange fluid jet thrombectomy method employing a single operator exchange fluid jet thrombectomy device having an outer catheter assembly and separable and exchangeable components in the form of an inner catheter assembly allowing functioning as a rheolytic thrombectomy catheter or as a crossflow thrombectomy catheter. The outer catheter assembly is common to any mode of usage and includes a guide catheter having a lumen through which a guidewire and the greater portion of a hypo-tube carrying a jet emanator and a flow director are passed and advanced. In the method, thrombus is dislodged, entrained, and broken into pieces by fluid jets and evacuated through the lumen of the guide catheter.

Single operator exchange fluid jet thrombectomy method

Flexible microcatheter having regions of different flexibility integrally and strategically placed along and about the length of a one-piece composite catheter tube. Distally the flexible microcatheter exhibits pronounced flexibility with respect to locations or regions of flexibility located proximally for navigation along tortuous vascular paths. Different regions of flexibility are formed by applying resins of different Shore hardness readings either singularly or in combination along and about a braid which overlies an inner resin layer. The encapsulated braid provides resistance to kinking and bending of the flexible microcatheter as well as providing for torque transmission and pushability along the length of the flexible microcatheter.

Flexible microcatheter

A rheolytic thrombectomy catheter and method of using same to remove thrombus from a body vessel or other body cavity. Several embodiments are disclosed. All embodiments include an outer catheter having a lumen and an inner high pressure tube of a size to enable it to be passed through the lumen of the catheter. The distal end of the inner high pressure tube extends beyond the distal end of the catheter and carries a jet cap for directing one or more jets of saline proximally toward the distal end of the catheter. In some embodiments, the catheter has a distally located inwardly directed stationary stop and the inner high pressure tube includes a distally located outwardly directed transitional stop for engaging the inwardly directed stationary stop to thereby position the jet cap at a defined distance from the distal end of the catheter. In other embodiments, a stationary stop is located at the proximal end of the catheter and a transitional stop is carried on the proximal end of the inner high pressure tube. In the embodiments having the stationary and transitional stops located proximally, the inner high pressure tube includes a flow director at its distal end. In use, thrombus is dislodged, entrained, and broken into pieces by the saline jets and evacuated proximally through the lumen of the catheter.

Rheolytic thrombectomy catheter and method of using same

A surgical device and method for removal of tissue, such as thrombus, from a vessel in the body. The device has a first tube with a distal open end and an inward directed stop and a second tube with an outward directed stop for engaging the inward directed stop and thereby regulating the relationship between a retrograde jet and the distal open end. Thrombus is dislodged, entrained, and broken into pieces which are evacuated through the first tube.
