The present disclosure relates to a steering column for a motor vehicle, including an actuating unit. In order to render possible reduced friction and more flexible adaptation, the disclosure proposes that a stop body include a stop lever, which is mounted on the supporting unit rotatably about a lever axis (H) relative to the clamping shaft.

Steering column for a motor vehicle

A motor-adjustable steering column for a motor vehicle has an outer casing which is held by a support unit that is attachable to a vehicle body. An actuator unit is received in the outer casing to adjust in the longitudinal direction. A steering spindle is coaxially and rotatably mounted in a casing tube in the actuator unit. An adjustment drive and an energy absorbing installation are disposed between the outer casing and the actuator unit. The adjustment drive has a spindle mechanism with a threaded spindle which is rotatably drivable by an electric servomotor engaged in a spindle nut. The energy absorbing installation has at least one energy absorbing element at least indirectly disposed between the spindle nut and the actuator unit. The spindle nut or the threaded spindle has at least one forming element which operatively engages with the energy absorbing element and is plastically deformable.

Motor-adjustable steering column for a motor vehicle

A steering column for a motor vehicle, with a first casing in which a steering spindle is rotatably mounted about an axis. The first casing and a second casing are arranged to be telescoped one into the other. The second casing can be connected to a body of the motor vehicle. The casings are coupled to one another via an energy absorption device which has at least two deformation sections arranged one behind the other in the direction of the axis. At least one of the deformation sections can be coupled between the casings via a coupling device or decoupled therefrom, and the deformation section can be plastically deformed in the coupled state in the event of relative displacement of the first casing with respect to the second casing. At least two deformation sections are formed on a single-piece energy absorption element.

A motor-adjustable steering column for a motor vehicle includes an outer casing which is held by a support unit that is attachable to a vehicle body and in which an actuator unit is received so as to be telescopically adjustable in the longitudinal direction. A steering spindle is coaxially mounted in a casing tube in the actuator unit so as to be rotatable about a longitudinal axis. An adjustment drive is disposed between the outer casing and the actuator unit and has a threaded spindle which is at least in part disposed within the actuator unit and is drivable in a rotating manner by an electric servomotor engaged in a spindle nut. In order for a compact adjustment drive which is accommodated in a protected manner to be provided, the threaded spindle is disposed at a spacing from the longitudinal axis.

A steering column for a motor vehicle includes a case with a steering gear-side end and a steering wheel-side end. The case includes an outer casing tube in which an inner casing tube is arranged telescopically and in which a steering spindle is mounted rotatably about a longitudinal axis. The steering spindle includes a hollow shaft in which a steering shaft is arranged telescopically. The steering spindle is mounted rotatably in a rear bearing in the steering wheel-side end portion. A safety element may be arranged between the steering gear-side end of the case and the rear bearing between the case and the steering spindle, which leaves a circumferential radial safety distance between the case and steering spindle which is smaller than the radial distance between the case and steering spindle outside the safety element between the steering gear-side end of the case and the rear bearing.

A steering shaft axially mounted rotatably in a shell and a guide part by which the shell is held. An energy absorption device arranged between the guide and shell has a bending wire coupled by a first end to the shell and a second end to the guide. A rail is attached to the shell. A pin is coupled to the guide. The second end of the bending wire has a coupling section that engages behind the pin and is braced at a support point on the side wall in the event of a crash and the support point is arranged on the side of the pin gripped by the coupling section. The pin has a first spacing from the side wall. A second spacing between the pin and the support point measured axially is at least 1.1 times the first spacing.

A steering column may include an inner casing tube in which a steering spindle is rotatably mounted, an outer casing unit that retains the inner casing tube, and a clamping device that secures the outer casing unit relative to the inner casing tube in a fixing position and enables adjustment in an enabling position. The clamping device comprises an arresting element supported longitudinally on the outer casing unit and, in the fixing position, is connected in a longitudinally non-displaceable manner to an engagement element connected to the inner casing tube and, in the enabling position, is released from the engagement element and enables movement of the inner casing tube relative to the outer casing unit in a longitudinal direction. A plastically-deformable energy absorption device, which includes at least two energy absorption elements and a coupling means, may couple the inner casing tube and the outer casing unit.

A locking device for a steering column may include an activating lever attached to a clamping bolt, which lever interacts with a pressure plate such that when the activating lever is rotated about an axis of the clamping bolt in a closing direction the steering column is clamped in the locking device, and such that when the activating lever is rotated in the opening direction the steering column can be adjusted. An abutment finger may be radially spaced apart from the clamping bolt and project in a direction of the axis of the clamping bolt. The abutment finger may engage in a window-like slot of the activating lever so that rotation of the activating lever is possible but limited in the opening and closing directions by abutment of the abutment finger against opposite abutment surfaces of the window-like slot, at least one which may comprise a damping cover.

Locking device for an adjustable steering column of a motor vehicle

A steering column for a motor vehicle may include a supporting unit and a displacement unit. The supporting unit may be connectable to a chassis of the motor vehicle, and the displacement unit may be displaceable relative to the supporting unit along a displacement path in a crash event. The steering column may further include an energy absorption element positioned between the supporting unit and the displacement unit. In a crash event, the energy absorption element may absorb energy over the displacement path. In some examples, the energy absorption element includes local laser solidifications that help control an energy absorption level of the energy absorption element.

A steering column may include an adjustment unit with a steering spindle that is mounted rotatably about its longitudinal axis in a casing tube, a supporting unit that supports the adjustment unit, and a clamping device that controls movement between the adjustment unit and the supporting unit in a longitudinal direction. The clamping device may comprise an actuating element that interacts with a clamping mechanism for clamping the supporting unit to the adjustment unit. The clamping device may further comprise a locking part. In the securing position a form-fitting element of the locking part engages non-displaceably in the longitudinal direction with a form-fitting element of an engagement part connected to the adjustment unit. In the release position the form-fitting element of the locking part may be spaced apart from the form-fitting element of the engagement part to release the adjustment unit. The actuating element may be connected to a lifting mechanism separate from the clamping mechanism. The lifting mechanism may be connected to the locking part and may convert actuation of the actuating element into a working stroke of the locking part. The working stroke of the lifting mechanism is assignable independently of a clamping stroke of the clamping mechanism.

A steering column may comprise an adjusting unit that holds a steering spindle rotatably mounted about a longitudinal axis, a holding unit that receives the adjusting unit, a clamping device that locks the adjusting unit relative to the holding unit in a fixing position and permits adjustment in an unlocked position, and an energy absorption element attached to the adjusting unit and extending through an opening of a wedging housing parallel to the longitudinal axis. The energy absorption element is longitudinally movable in the opening in the unlocked position and lockable within the opening in the fixing position. The opening may have a wedging section with inner wall regions that converge longitudinally. A wedging element is movable into the wedging section and disposed between the energy absorption element and the inner wall regions. The wedging element and the energy absorption element, measured transversely to the longitudinal direction, may be larger than a shortest cross section of the wedging section.

A steering column arrangement for a motor vehicle may include a guide part for rotatably mounting a steering shaft about a longitudinal axis, a guide box that is mountable on the motor vehicle and in which the guide part is arranged displaceably along the longitudinal axis, and a clamping system that is for locking the guide part in the guide box and that is switchable between a locked state where the guide part is secured relative to the guide box and a released state where the guide part is displaceable relative to the guide box in a direction of the longitudinal axis, and first and second contact surfaces disposed between the guide box and the guide part. In the released state the first contact surface is in first frictional contact with a surface of the guide part that opposes a displacement of the guide part along the longitudinal axis relative to the guide box. In the locked state the second contact surface is in second frictional contact with a surface of the guide part wherein a frictional force designed as a holding force acts between the guide box and the guide part.

Adjustable steering column having improved rigidity

A fixing device for an adjustable steering column for a motor vehicle includes a first cam carrier having one or more cams fixedly attached thereto, and at least one further cam carrier having one or more cams fixedly attached thereto. The cam carriers are arranged such as to be rotatable relative to each other about a rotational axis. Upon rotation of the cam carriers relative to each other about the rotational axis, the cam or cams of the first cam carrier interact with the cam or cams of the further cam carrier such as to slide exclusively along each other. The fixing device includes at least one energy-consuming damping device which damps the rotation of the cam carrier in at least one direction of rotation about the rotational axis.

Fixing device for an adjustable steering column for a motor vehicle

A steering column for a motor vehicle including a steering spindle bearing unit for rotatably supporting a steering spindle of the steering column and a bracket unit for securing the steering column on the motor vehicle. The steering spindle bearing unit is bearing supported by a securement device on at least one bracket part of the bracket unit, wherein the position of the steering spindle bearing unit relative to the bracket unit is secured in position in a closed position of the securement device and, in an open position of the securement device, is displaceable. The securement device includes an operating lever swivellable about a lever swivel axis, by which the operating lever is displaceable between the closed position and the open position. The steering column includes at least one damping element for damping the swivel movement of the operating lever about the lever swivel axis.
