The front pillar includes a pillar outer panel and a pillar inner panel. The pillar outer panel is disposed on an outside in a vehicle width direction. The pillar inner panel is disposed on an inside in the vehicle width direction. The pillar outer panel and the pillar inner panel form a closed cross-section. A cowl extends in the vehicle width direction and includes a cowl-side bent portion. The cowl-side bent portion is an end of the cowl on the outside in the vehicle width direction that is bent toward a rear side in a vehicle front-rear direction, and laid and welded on the outside in the vehicle width direction of a front end of the pillar inner panel.

To obtain a laser joining structure and a laser joining method that can suppress a decrease in strength or rigidity of a third plate that is disposed at an interval apart from at least two metal plates. A laser joining structure has at least two metal plates whose superposed region, at which the at least two metal plates are superposed with one another, is joined by laser welded portions at two or more places, and a third plate that is disposed at an interval apart from the superposed region. A through-portion, that passes-through the third plate and through which laser light is irradiated onto the superposed region and that is of a number that is less than a number of the laser welded portions, is formed in the third plate.

Laser joining structure and laser joining method

A vehicle frame structure includes a pair of hat-shaped panels that form a portion of a vehicle, each hat-shaped panel having a hat-shaped cross-section, the pair of hat-shaped panels facing each other and forming a closed sectional portion; a partition panel that is sandwiched by the pair of hat-shaped panels, and divides an inside of the closed sectional portion; and a laser welded portion where all of four or more plates including the pair of hat-shaped panels and the partition panel are overlapped and welded together at an identical position by laser welding.

A front side member has: a front frame portion disposed such that a longitudinal direction of the front frame portion runs along a vehicle longitudinal direction; a rear frame portion which is offset toward a vehicle bottom side with respect to the front frame portion at a vehicle rear side of the front frame portion, and which is disposed such that a longitudinal direction of the rear frame portion runs along the vehicle longitudinal direction; and a connecting frame portion connecting a rear end of the front frame portion and a front end of the rear frame portion. A concave portion is formed at a vehicle top-bottom direction intermediate portion of the connecting frame portion. A dash cross member, which is disposed such that a longitudinal direction of the dash cross member runs along a vehicle transverse direction, is provided within the concave portion.
