A method for surface crosslinking water-absorbing resin of the present invention includes a step (1) of obtaining a wet mixture, a step (2) of obtaining a dried particulate composition, and a step (3) of carrying out a surface crosslinking reaction. With this, since a processing time of each step becomes short, it is possible to mass produce the water-absorbing resin having excellent physical properties. Moreover, a method for manufacturing the water-absorbing resin of the present invention includes a modifying step and a cooling step. The modifying step and/or the cooling step are/is carried out by using stirring means including a rotation axis having a plurality of stirring boards, and the stirring means includes the stirring board having a specific thickness and/or a scraping blade having a specific shape. With this, it is possible to suppress the generation of the fine powder in the modifying step and/or the cooling step.

Method for surface crosslinking water-absorbing resin and method for manufacturing water-absorbing resin

A cement dispersant having excellent ability to prevent slump loss and high water-reducing property which comprises a polycarboxylic acid type polymer having a specific molecular weight distribution, a method for the production thereof, and a cement composition using the dispersant are provided. The cement dispersant comprises as a main component thereof a polycarboxylic acid type polymer (A), having a weight average molecular weight in the range of 10,000 to 500,000 in terms of polyethylene glycol determined by gel permeation chromatography, and having a value determined by subtracting the peak top molecular weight from the weight average molecular weight in the range of 0 to 8,000.

Cement dispersant, method for production thereof, and cement composition using the dispersant

A method for the continuous production of a shaped hydrogel of absorbent resin is disclosed. This invention accomplishes the continuous production by continuously supplying in the form of a layer a monomer mixture capable of forming an absorbent resin by polymerization and polymerizing the layer of the monomer mixture. This method is characterized by retaining the rate of change of the thickness in the direction of width of the layer of hydrogel of absorbent resin at the time of formation of gel at a level of not more than 20%. The method is advantageously carried out by the use of an apparatus for the production of a shaped hydrogel of absorbent resin which comprises a movable endless revolving support belt, a monomer mixture supplying device, and a device for discharging the shaped hydrogel of absorbent resin, the apparatus preferably being provided near each of the opposite lateral parts of the movable endless revolving support belt with a lateral weir adapted to move in concert with the belt or being provided near each of the opposite lateral parts of the movable endless revolving support belt with a lateral weir fixed in such a manner as to contact the belt in a sliding state. The method of this invention permits production of a shaped hydrogel of absorbent resin intended to afford an absorbent resin which exhibits high absorption capacity, little water-soluble content and little residual monomer only in small amounts, and enjoys a high productivity rate.

A method for the production of a water-absorbent resin capable of fast water absorption is disclosed which comprises the steps of dispersing bubbles of an inert gas in an aqueous monomer solution of a mixture of a water-soluble unsaturated monomer and a water-soluble cross-linking monomer and subjecting the mixture to copolymerization under the condition that a volume of the monomer solution wherein the inert gas is dispersed is in the range of 1.02 to 5 times of a volume of non-dispersant state.

A method for the dispersion of cement, which comprises incorporating in a cement composition consisting at least of cement and water a cement dispersing agent formed of a polymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer component containing an alkoxy polyalkylene glycol mono(meth)acrylic ester monomer produced by the interesterification of an alkoxy polyalkylene glycol and a (meth)acrylic ester. A cement composition excelling in the slump retaining property which comprises at least cement admixture comprising as a main ingredient thereof (I) a copolymer (A) of short-chain polyalkylene glycol (meth)acrylate (a), a long-chain polyalkylene glycol (meth)acrylate (b), a carboxylic acid monomer (c), and a monomer copolymerizable with the monomers mentioned above or a salt of the copolymer (B), (II) a copolymer (A.sub.1) of the monomers (a), (c), and (d) mentioned above or a salt thereof, (III) a mixture of a copolymer (A.sub.1) of the monomers (a), (c), and (d) mentioned above or a salt (B.sub.1) of thereof with a known cement admixture, or (IV) a polycarboxylic acid based polymer (A.sub.3) manifesting to a calcium sulfoaluminate based expansive additive an adsorption ratio of not less than 90% in 5 minutes at room temperature when added in an amount of 0.1% by weight as solids or a salt (B.sub.3) thereof, or (V) a mixture of said polycarboxylic acid polymer with a known cement dispersant; cement; and water.

Cement composition

A cement additive is added to increase flowability of a cement composition and to prevent a slump loss, but those characters are insufficient, or the cement additive becomes ununiform in the cement composition and causes a trouble of the hardening inferiority. Thus, to solve the subjects, the present invention provides a cement additive composed of a crosslinked polymer in which, between main chains having a water-soluble polymer structure of a molecular weight from 500 to 100,000, a bond having as a structural unit at least one group selected from divalent groups as shown in the following formula (I) is formed. ##STR1## �In the formula (I), R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently denote any one of the following. ##STR2## However, R.sup.1 may not be required in a case of that R.sup.2 is the following. ##STR3## Moreover, R and R' independently denote an alkyl group of carbon number of 1 to 5.!

Cement additive, method for producing the same, and cement composition

An additive for a carbonaceous solid-water slurry which excels preeminently in the ability to disperse a finely powdered carbonaceous solid in water and, when used only in a small amount, permits production of a carbonaceous solid-water slurry which possesses high concentration, exhibits high fluidity, and precludes change of viscosity due to aging, a method for the production of the additive, and a slurry composition are provided. The additive to be used for high concentration of carbonaceous solid-water slurry comprises a specific water-soluble copolymer and contains a low molecular copolymer (a) having a weight weight-average molecular weight in a range or from 1000 to 39000 and specific ratios of adsorption relative to a carbonaceous solid and a clayish mineral and a high molecular copolymer (b) having a weight weight-average molecular weight of not less than 40000 and specific ratios of adsorption relative to a carbonaceous solid and a clayish mineral at a weight ratio, (a)/(b), in the range of from 10/90 to 99/1, the met hod is for the production of the additive, and the slurry composition is produced by the incorporation of the additive.

An oil-absorbent composition including 30 to 99.5 parts by weight of (I) an oil-absorbent, cross-linked polymer formed from 96-99.999% by weight of (A) monomer having a polymerizable unsaturated group in the molecule, said monomer (A) containing mainly a monomer having a solubility parameter of not more than 9, and 4-0.001% by weight of (B) a cross-linking monomer having at least two polymerizable unsaturated groups in the molecule, provided the sum of monomer (A) and cross-linking monomer (B) is 100%, and 70 to 0.5 to parts by weight of (IV) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of (II) inorganic compounds having a methanol value of not less than 25% and (III) substantially water insoluble organic acid salts, provided the sum of oil-absorbent, cross-linked polymer (I) and compound (IV) is 100 parts by weight.

An admixture for modifying the fluidity of a cementitious mixture comprises a cement-dispersing agent which is an aqueous solution of polymer, in which solution an oxyalkylene-based defoaming agent is dissolved or dispersed in particles of no greater that 20 .mu.M diameter. The polymer is preferably a polymer which comprises units derived from unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and the polymer is preferably prepared in the presence of the defoaming agent. Particular addition copolymers give particularly good results. The admixture permits good control of the fluidity of cementitious compositions and has extended shelf life.

Fluidity control of cementitious compositions

Gel-like fragrance composition which comprises an aqueous gel comprising an aqueous fluid and a gelling agent incorporated an oil-absorbable resin carrying a fragrant material. Without unfavourable changes of fragrant material, occurring in the preparation of the fragrance, such as volatile emission, spoilage, discoloration and foreign odor development, there is provided a gel-like fragrance composition allowing the fragrance selection spectrum to be widened, with excellent lasting deodorant effect and fragrant balance, and in particular with good durability of the fragrance at latter stages of use.

A polymer comprising an .alpha.-glycol structure unit ##STR1## and a carboxylic acid-based structure unit ##STR2## provides superior results with respect to dispersibility, a chelating ability and a viscosity-stabilizing effect and is useful as a detergent builder, pigment- and cement-dispersing agents, a hydrogen peroxide stabilizer and a gas barrier agent. This polymer can further comprise the following lactone structure unit. ##STR3## This polymer can be produced by copolymerizing a conjugated diene monomer and a carboxylic acid-based monomer and oxidizing a copolymer obtained.
