The curable resin having a number average molecular weight of 600 to 6000 and at least two hydrolyzable silyl groups which is prepared by reacting an aliphatic polyester resin having acryloyl group and alcoholic hydroxyl group with an isocyanate silane compound: ##STR1## reacting the obtained reaction product with an aminosilane compound: ##STR2## and reacting the obtained reaction product with a monofunctional isocyanate: OCN-R.sup.5 and/or a polyfunctional isocyanate; and the composition containing the resin. The curable resin and the composition are excellent in acid resistance such as acid resin resistance, scratch resistance, solvent resistance, flexibility, and the like.

Curable resin and composition containing the same

A curable resin having a number average molecular weight of 1,000 to 100,000 and having the formula (I): ##STR1## and a process for preparing the curable resin (I). The curable resin (I) of the invention is excellent in flexibility, solvent resistance, adhesion to organic materials as well as inorganic materials, storage stability, curability at ordinary temperature and weatherability.

Curable resin and process for preparing the same

A curable composition at room temperature comprising (A) 100 parts by weight of a hydrolyzable silyl group-containing vinyl polymer, (B) 0.1 to 100 parts by weight of a specific silane compound and (C) 0 to 20 parts by weight of a curing catalyst, the silane compound (B) being a silane compound selected from ##STR1## The composition is excellent in not only adhesion to melamine alkyd or malamine acrylic resin coatings but also hardness, solvent resistance and staining resistance.
