A variable valve timing control apparatus for an internal combustion engine comprising a housing member rotated in synchronism with one of a first shaft and a second shaft, the housing member comprising a circular space provided therein and at least one fan-shaped space radially extending from an outer circumferential surface of the circular space, a vane rotor rotated in synchronism with the other of the first shaft and the second shaft, the vane rotor is accommodated in the housing member in order to relatively rotate with respect to the housing member, the vane rotor comprising at least one vane radially extending so as to divide each the fan-shaped space into a first chamber and a second chamber, a locking member provided in one of the housing member and the vane, the locking member comprising a main body portion provided with a cylindrical shape and a leading head portion provided with a tapered surface whose diameter decreases toward an end face of the leading head portion, an engaging bore provided in the other of the housing member and the vane for accommodating the leading head portion, a diameter at the opening of the engaging bore being larger than a diameter at the end face of the leading head portion, and smaller than a diameter at which the leading head portion has a largest diameter.

Variable valve control apparatus for an internal combustion engine

In a valve open-and-closure timing changing apparatus for an internal combustion engine, a rotary body ( ) is revolved in synchronization with a revolution of the engine, a camshaft ( ) is provided, and a valve open-and-closure changing mechanism is interposed between the rotary body and the camshaft to relatively rotate the camshaft to the rotary body to enable a change in a valve open-and-closure timing of at least one of intake and exhaust valves. The valve open-and-closure mechanism includes: a housing member ( ) to be revolved together with the rotary body; a vane rotor relatively rotatably housed within the housing member, to be revolved together with the camshaft, and having at least one vane radially projected therefrom; at least one pair of advance angle and retardation angle chambers partitioned between the housing member and vane rotor by means of the vane; a hydraulic supply-and-draining device that supplies a working oil into either one of the pair of the advance angle or retardation angle chamber while draining the working oil from the other of the pair of the chambers to achieve a relative rotation between the housing member and vane rotor; and a boss portion projected from one axial direction of the vane rotor toward an outside of the housing member or extended at the same position thereof.

Variable valve open-and-closure timing changing apparatus for internal combustion engine

A variable valve timing control apparatus for an internal combustion engine that varies the rotational phrase of the first shaft with respect to the second shaft. The apparatus comprises a housing member rotated in synchronism with one of the first shaft and the second shaft, the housing member having a circular space provided in the housing member and radially extending at least one fan-shaped space from outer circumferential surface of the circular space, a vane rotor rotated in synchronism with the other of the first shaft and the second shaft and accommodated in the housing member in order to relatively rotate with respect to the housing member, the vane rotor having radially extending at least one vane so as to divide the fan-shaped space into first chamber and second chamber. A hole provided in one of the housing member and the vane, an engaging bore provided in the other of the housing member and the vane, and a locking mechanism provided in the hole for fixing the rotational phrase between the housing member and the vane rotor. The locking mechanism comprises a locking member having a leading head provided at the one end of the locking member and a hollow space, the hollow space having an opening which opens in an opposite direction to the leading head, and a stopper member having different diameters.

A valve timing control device disposed between a rotary element synchronously rotating with an engine and a camshaft actuating the engine valve, comprising a housing adapted to rotate with one of the rotary element and the camshaft and a vane rotor within the housing. The vane rotor has an axial bore having an open end and pressure chamber-side fluid passages open to the axial bore and is adapted to rotate with the other of the rotary element and the camshaft. Vanes radially extending from the vane rotor define within the housing fluid pressure chambers communicating with the pressure chamber-side fluid passages, respectively. A fluid control mechanism controls supply and discharge of a hydraulic fluid relative to the fluid pressure chambers. A shaft is received in the axial bore and formed with pressure source-side fluid passages connecting the pressure chamber-side fluid passages with the fluid control mechanism.

Valve timing control device for an internal combustion engine

An internal combustion engine has a sprocket driven by a timing chain in synchronization with the engine rotation and a camshaft for driving intake or exhaust valves. A valve timing control device of the engine comprises a first rotating member on which the sprocket is integrally formed; a second rotating member capable of making a relative rotation to the first rotating member and rotated together with the camshaft; a plurality of working fluid chambers defined between the first and second rotating members; and a charging/discharging means for charging and discharging a working fluid to and from the working fluid chambers to induce the relative rotation between the first and second rotating members. The sprocket and at least a base part of the first rotating member on which the sprocket is integrally formed are constructed of a porous metal member. Thus, the working fluid led into the working fluid chambers is allowed to penetrate into the sprocket through the base part thereby to bring about a sufficient lubrication of a portion where the sprocket and the timing chain are meshed. The porous metal member may be a sintered metal.

Valve timing control device of internal combustion engine

A piston for an internal combustion engine includes a ring land formed with a piston-ring groove, and a skirt connected to the ring land so that the piston-ring groove is adjacent thereto, the skirt being formed with a piston-pin hole with an axis, and having a plane including the axis of the piston-pin hole. A taper is formed on the skirt in a first portion thereof nearer to the ring land than the plane to converge on the ring land.
