In a process of producing a stretch sheet, a strip-shaped laminate sheetA having an elastically stretchable elastic layerand substantially inelastic, inelastic fiber layersandpartially joined to each other at bondsor a strip-shaped fibrous sheet containing an elastic component and a substantially inelastic component and having embossed regions formed by embossing in parts is stretched in directions starting from the bondsor the embossed regions to obtain a stretch sheet. The stretch sheet has raised ridges and recessed grooves extending in the direction perpendicular to the stretch direction, and the bondsor the embossed regions are present in the ridges.

Stretch sheet and process of producing the same

A stretch nonwoven fabriccontains inelastic fibers having a varied thickness along the length and elastic fibers. The nonwoven fabricpreferably includes an elastic fiber layerand a substantially inelastic, inelastic fiber layeron at least one side of the elastic fiber layer. The fibers with a varied thickness along the length are contained in the inelastic fiber layer. The nonwoven fabricis conveniently produced by (a) superposing a web containing low-drawn, inelastic fibers having an elongation of 80% to 800% on at least one side of a web containing elastic fibers, (b) subjecting the webs, while in a non-united state, to through-air technique to obtain a fibrous sheet having the webs united together by thermal bonding the fibers at their intersections, and (c) stretching the fibrous sheet in at least one direction to draw the low-drawn inelastic fibers, followed by releasing the sheet from the stretch.

A magnetic recording medium in which the bearing ratio Tp of the magnetic layer on a slice level at a depth of 45 nm from the highest peak of the surface profile measured with an atomic force microscope is 3% to 60%, and the difference .DELTA..mu. between the maximum frictional coefficient and the minimum frictional coefficient of the magnetic layer ranges from 0.1 to 0.0001 as measured under conditions of 5 mm.sup.2 in contact area, 2 g in weight of a measuring head, 0.04 to 0.2 N in load applied, 3 mm/sec in speed, and 140 mm in length of measurement.

A magnetic recording medium comprising a nonmagnetic substrate having provided thereon an intermediate layer consisting essentially of magnetic powder having a Mohs hardness of not less than 3 and an average particle size of not greater than 0.5 .mu.m and/or nonmagnetic powder having a Mohs hardness of not less than 3, carbon black, and a binder and, as a top layer, a magnetic layer consisting essentially of ferromagnetic metal powder and a binder, in which said magnetic layer has an average center-line surface roughness (Ra) of not greater than 7 nm, and said magnetic layer has an average center-line surface roughness (Ra) of 10 to 30 nm after being immersed in a hydrochloric acid aqueous solution for 24 hours.

Rotary motion of a first rotary shaft is changed to a linear motion by a first converting mechanism to cause the first cloth presser to move laterally while rotary motion of a second rotary shaft is changed to a linear motion by a second converting mechanism to cause the second cloth presser to move laterally. The first rotary shaft and the second rotary shaft are connected with or disconnected from each other by a clutch so that the first rotary shaft is driven by or released from a drive unit.

A tape feeding device comprises a binder arrangement for bending shape tape so that the bent portion thereof extends longitudinally. The binder includes a first binder for guiding a base of the tape and a second binder for bending the tape in a predetermined shape while guiding a tip end of the tape. A cutting unit is disposed between the first and the second binders to cut the tape. A tape feeding mechanism feeds the tape from the first binder to the second binder after the tape is cut by the cutting unit.

A cloth presser mechanism comprises a cloth presser vertically movably supported by an arm of a sewing machine. A needle bar is vertically movably supported by the arm of the sewing machine and has a needle at the lower end thereof. The mechanism further includes a rack fixed to the needle bar, a pinion rotatably supported by the arm of the sewing machine and engaged with the rack, a cam integral with the pinion, a first link having an end pivotally supported by the arm of the sewing machine and a middle portion connected to a roller which rides on the surface of the cam, and a second link having an end pivotally supported by the cloth presser. The other end of the second link is pivotally connected to the other end of the first link.
