There is provided a used-master security system for a printing apparatus that can prohibit the removal of used masters for any type of master and to safely secure used masters by prohibiting the removal of used masters; a used-master security method for a printing apparatus in which the used-master security system of the printing apparatus is used; and a printing apparatus capable of prohibiting the removal of used masters with the used-master security system for a printing apparatus, and having a used-master storage device for storing used-masters provided to the printing apparatus main body and a used-master security device that is capable of prohibiting the removal of used masters inside the used-master storage device.

Used-master security system for a printing apparatus

A master making and feeding device for a printer includes a first conveying section and a second conveying section. When the first conveying section is perforating a stencil or after it has perforated a stencil, conveyance drive means drives the second conveying section at a preselected timing in order to feed the leading edge of the stencil to a print drum. At this instant, the conveyance drive means drives the second conveying section such that it conveys the stencil at a higher speed than the first conveying section. The device is capable of reducing a period of time necessary for the leading edge of the perforated stencil to be fed to the print drum and therefore a first print time.

Master making and feeding device for a printer

A master making device of the present invention includes a support member supporting a stencil roll such that a stencil can be paid out from the roll. A thermal head perforates the stencil paid out from the roll while a platen roller rotates while pressing the stencil against the head. The support member, thermal head and platen are constructed into a master making unit. The master making unit is removably mounted to the body of a printer via rails. A broader space than is conventional is available for the stencil to be set or replaced or for a jam to be dealt with without a document reading section being displaced relative to the printer body.

Master making device and stencil printer including the same

In a stencil printer, when a print drum reaches a stand-by position where a new master produced by a master making operation should have its leading edge clamped on the drum, a master discharging operation under way for discharging a used master is interrupted. After the leading edge of the new master has been clamped on the print drum, the master discharging operation is resumed while a master feeding operation for wrapping the new master around the print drum is under way. A printing operation for printing a document image on a sheet is effected simultaneously with the resumption of the master discharging operation. Such a procedure is implemented as a high speed 1 control mode and executed by a main control unit.

Even when the leading edge of the stencil has a noticeable curl, it can be surely peeled off from the roll and paid out automatically. A peeler has its peeling end prevented from being curled.

In a stencil printer, a master making device has a body and a roll holding section. To load the roll holding section with a new stencil roll, the operator should only pull out the roll holding section from the body of the device. The operator sets the new roll in the roll holding section and pushes the holding section into the device body as far as a preselected operative position. Then, rotary drive apparatus rotates the roll in a direction for paying out the leading edge of a stencil. At the same time, peeling apparatus adjoins or contacts the periphery of the roll in accordance with the varying diameter of the roll and automatically peels off the leading edge of the stencil from the roll. The leading edge is paid out toward master making apparatus. The stencil can therefore be surely paid out and brought to a stand-by position. This facilitates the loading of the stencil and allows it to be fully automatically paid out from the roll. The printing operation is simple and frees the operator from troublesome manipulation. The roll holding section can be moved into and out of the device body without requiring a document reading section arranged on the top of the printer to be slid. The device is therefore simple, light weight, and low cost, compared to a printer having a conventional master making device.

Automatic stencil feeding and making device

In a stencil printer, a device for writing an image in a stencil has a master holding unit movable between an operative position and an inoperative position while being guided by guiding means. In the inoperative position, the stencil holding unit allows the operator to pull out the leading edge of a stencil from a roll, lay it on stencil guiding means included in the unit, cause stencil conveying means, also included in the unit, and the stencil guiding means to nip the leading edge of the stencil, and then move the unit toward the operative position. Only if the operator performs such a simple operation, stencil drive means drives the stencil conveying means and causes it to convey the leading edge of the stencil. This insures the easy understanding of the roll replacement procedure and allows the roll to be loaded and unloaded and the stencil to be set with ease.

In an apparatus for making a master by perforating a stencil with a thermal head or similar heating device in accordance with image data, a stencil unit accommodating a stencil in the form of a roll is removably set. The stencil unit has a holder portion holding the roll, and a guide portion retaining the leading edge portion of the stencil paid out from the roll for thereby guiding it.
