An optical cable has a plurality of one-groove spacers which are twisted in one direction around a central member . Anti-tensile elements are arranged in the central portion of the central member . Each one-groove spacer having a single groove which is linear lengthwise and substantially square in cross section and holding a stack of a plurality of optical fiber ribbons . The inner width and the height of the side walls of the groove of the one-groove spacer are set greater than the diagonal length of the stack. Therefore, the transmission loss becomes reducible because the contact portions of the optical fiber ribbons with respect to the side walls of the grooves vary in the longitudinal direction, thus preventing a specific number of optical fibers from being continuously subjected to edgewise pressure.

Optical cable for holding optical fiber ribbons having a plurality of one groove spacers

An optical fiber cable produced at low cost is provided, in which an optical fiber core covered with an outer covering is suppressed from moving inside the outer covering in the lengthwise direction thereof and which does not cause the transmission characteristics to be deteriorated even when the cable is bent. In the optical fiber cable, buffer members composed of a long fiber are longitudinally disposed or stranded around at least one optical fiber core, the buffer members and the optical fiber core are adhered together intermittently in the lengthwise direction, and an outer covering is provided to surround the buffer members.

Optical fiber cable and method of producing the same

A cable and a cable stripping method which facilities the stripping of an intermediate part of a cable having a cable core covered by a plastic sheath provided around the outer periphery without damaging the cable core. In a cable having a plastic sheath on a cable core either a groove is provided in the inner surface of the plastic sheath extending in the longitudinal direction of the cable. A ripcord is either fitted in the groove or adhered to the inner surface of the plastic sheath. In either case, the position-indicating means showing the position of the ripcord is provided on the outer surface of the plastic sheath at the point where the ripcord is fitted.

An optical fiber cable enabling a reduction of diameter of the cable, without increasing the manufacturing cost, and improved in work efficiency when pulling out cores in the middle of the cable for cable connection work etc., provided with a tape core stack comprised of a stack of a plurality of tape cores each comprised of an integral assembly of a plurality of optical fibers arranged in parallel and embedded in a resin, at least one fiber cord member wound around an outer circumference of the tape core stack along its longitudinal direction, and a sheath formed outside of the tape core stack and the fiber cord member wound around the outer circumference of the tape core stack.

Optical fiber cable

The invention is to provide an optical fiber cable in which an end of an optical fiber core is prevented from being dragged inside the main cable body part upon the application of a tension on the optical fiber cable, and which prevents the increase in transmission loss and breakage of the optical fiber core caused by the movement of the optical fiber core near the connection point. The invention can be characterized in that an optical fiber cable is formed in such a manner that yarns are stranded in a periphery of the stack of the optical fiber ribbons, and an outer sheath of the main cable body part is formed with a tension member united thereto on the periphery of the yarns.

There is provided an optical-fiber; and a cylinder body which is made from a cylindrically formed belt-shaped material and made of resin and which accommodates the optical-fiber therein.

Optical-fiber cable and method of manufacturing the same

An optical fiber cable in which optical fiber ribbon stack can be accommodated in a cylindrical space efficiently and which has excellent loss characteristic. A plurality of optical fiber ribbons,are stacked. Cushioning fillers,are disposed around the optical fiber ribbon stack,The optical fiber ribbon stack,and the cushioning fillers,are accommodated in a cylindrical member,The space factor of the cushioning fillers in the inner space of the cylindrical member as a remainder after removal of the optical fiber ribbon stack from the inner space is from 10 to 60%. Consequently, the optical fiber cable becomes excellent both in initial transmission loss and in loss increasing characteristic at a low temperature.

Optical cable

An optical cable has a plurality of optical fibers. The optical fibers are contained in fiber containing cavities of chamber elements. Each chamber element has a bottom part and a pair of side wall parts, which defines a fiber containing cavity. The individual chamber elements containing the optical fibers are assembled around a thickening layer in an S-Z strand. Each side wall part is formed such that its thickness gradually decreases from its base end portion toward free end portion. Also, the thickness of the bottom part is greater than the thickness of each side wall part.

Optical cable and optical cable chamber element

An optical cable has an S-Z stranded part in which plurality of chamber elements containing optical fibers are assembled around a central member in an S-Z strand in the state where their bottom faces are in contact with the central member. Each chamber element has such a characteristic that its flexural rigidity in the depth direction of its fiber containing cavity is smaller than that in the widthwise direction thereof. Assuming, of distortion energy of the chamber element in an S-Z reverse portion within the S-Z stranded part, the distortion energy in the case where the bottom face of the chamber element is in contact with the central member to be U.sub.1, and the distortion energy in the case where a side face of the chamber element is in contact with the central member to be U.sub.2, a relational expression of .DELTA.U=U.sub.1 -U.sub.2 .ltoreq.0.2(mJ/mm) is satisfied.

An apparatus for separating a ribbon-coated multicore optical fiber at a plurality of positions at once, wherein the ribbon-coated multicore optical fiber includes a number of single-core fibers arranged in parallel. This apparatus comprises a first cutting member in which a plurality of sets of arc faces opposed to each other by way of a through path for inserting the ribbon-coated multicore optical fiber are disposed along the through path, while the arc faces in the respective sets extend from one side section of the through path halfway through the width direction of the through path; a second cutting member having a plurality of arc faces which continuously extend to and are adapted to join with the respective arc faces of the first cutting member in the width direction of the through path; and guide members which are respectively disposed at both end positions of the through path so as to position the ribbon-coated multicore optical fiber inserted into the through path. The first and second cutting members are movable relative to each other in the direction in which the arc faces are opposed to each other.

Apparatus for separating ribbon-coated multicore optical fiber

An optical waveguide component includes at least one main waveguide through which signal light and regenerating light propagate and a branch waveguide branching from the main waveguide, which are formed on the same substrate; a filter element disposed at a branch portion of these waveguides; and a plurality of reflecting elements having two reflecting faces, which are arranged in the extending direction of the branch waveguide. In the optical waveguide component, one reflecting face of the two reflecting faces is a face for reflecting the regenerating light to the filter element, and the other face is a face for reflecting the regenerating light to the direction deviating from the light axis direction of the branch waveguide, or the intervals between the reflecting elements are different from each other. This optical waveguide component enables the time-series signal processing of regenerating light to be performed accurately.
