A cable connector is provided including an insulative housing having an insertion opening through which a flat flexible cable may be inserted. An actuator is movably mounted on the housing and configured to be moved from a first position at which the flat flexible cable may be inserted and a second position at which the contact pads of the flat flexible cable are operatively engaged by terminals of the connector. A plurality of conductive terminals are mounted in the housing. Each terminal is configured to be electrically connected to a contact pad of the flat flexible cable. Each terminal includes a base portion disposed at a rear end of the terminal and extending in the vertical direction, an actuator holding arm portion, a front resilient contact arm portion, and a rear resilient contact arm portion. The contact arm portions engage the contact pads in a mutually independent way. The actuator holding arm portion and each contact arm portion have a proximal end thereof secured to the base portion and a contact portion at a free end of thereof.

Cable connector having multiple, mutually independent contact arms

A flat flexible cable connector () has a housing () with an insertion opening () in its front face. Two lengths of flexible cable () are placed end to end and are inserted into the opening. The connector has terminals () with top and bottom opposing contact portions () which are aligned with the exposed conductive leads on the two lengths of flexible cables. A moveable actuator () applies pressure to the terminal contact portions to effect a reliable connection between the flexible cables.

Relay connector

A cable connector includes a housing with an insertion recess for receiving an end of a flat cable and a plurality of terminals disposed in the housing for connecting to conductive leads of the flat cable. An actuator is attached to the housing so that the attitude of the actuator can be changed between a first position at which the flat cable can be inserted into the opening and a second position at which the actuator presses the conductive leads of the inserted flat cable into contact with the terminals. The actuator is attached to the housing at a cable insertion end side thereof and brought to the second position when the attitude of the actuator is changed in an insertion direction of the flat plate-like cable. A fulcrum of the attitude-changing movement of the actuator in the insertion direction is positioned further from the second position, as viewed from an effort point of a force applied by the flat cable to the actuator at the second position, than a point of action of the force being applied.

FPC connector with rotating latch

An electrical connector for a flat sheet-like cable includes an insulative housing with a plurality of terminals and an actuator. The actuator is moveable between a first insertion position and a second operational position, the first position permitting insertion of the cable into the connector and the second position configured such that the contact pads of the cable engage the contact portions of the terminals. The actuator has an abutting part formed on opposite ends thereof. A pair of generally planar securing members is provided at opposite ends of the housing. Each securing member includes a stop surface to define a depth to which the cable may be inserted, a restraining member that interacts with the abutting parts upon positioning the actuator in the second position to define a restraining surface to prevent removal of the cable, and a recess portion defined between the stop surface and the restraining surface.

Electrical connector for flat cable

A relay connector () for joining together two lengths of flat printed circuitry or flat flexible cable is formed from two connector housings () of identical shape. The two housings are joined together by a set of conductive terminals () and housing engagement members. The terminals are bilaterally symmetrical and have contact and engagement portions at their ends which are received in terminal-receiving grooves in the rear of the two housings. A pair of actuators () are rotatably mounted to the housings and they move in opposite directions to open and close.

FPC joining connector

An adapter, along with a method of fabricating the adapter, for a memory card connector to enable a miniature memory card to be inserted into a larger, standard memory card connector. A two-part housing is provided of a size and shape to simulate a standard memory card. The housing includes a base housing part defining a substantial portion of an inner cavity for receiving a miniature memory card. An inner housing part is separate from and independent of the base housing part. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the inner housing part to define a subassembly which is mounted on the base housing part. Each terminal includes a first contact portion at one end thereof for engaging an appropriate contact on the standard memory card connector. Each terminal includes a second contact portion at an opposite end thereof for engaging an appropriate contact of the miniature memory card.

A card connector assembly for receiving a card member is provided with an eject device wherein the eject device is assembled directly onto the support frame of the card connector assembly to thereby reduce the number of components, the number of assembly steps and the resultant manufacturing costs of the connector assembly. The card connector assembly comprises a card guide portion ( ), a connector portion ( ) to be connected to the card member, a support frame ( ) continuous with both the card guide portion and the connector portion and an eject device ( ). The eject device ( ) comprises a slide member ( ) slidably movable along the support frame ( ), a movable lever ( ) operating in accordance with movement of the slide member ( ) for moving the card in a direction away from the card connector ( ), and a cam mechanism ( ) for defining the sliding range of the slide member ( ). A part of the cam mechanism ( ) is provided directly in the support frame ( ).

Card connector assembly with improved ejection device

According to a ceramic fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composite material of the present invention, a ceramic fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composite material,comprises a composite ceramic matrix, and a preform,resulting from a fiber bundle,obtained by bundling a plurality of ceramic fibers,and disposed therein, and is characterized in that a first ceramic matrix M,is formed in an inner space of the fiber bundle,and at a region adjacent to an outer periphery thereof, and a second ceramic matrix M,is formed in an inner space of the preform,and at an outer peripheral region thereof, the space and region of the preform being defined except for those of the fiber bundle. Also characteristically, ceramic fibers are compositely disposed in a fiber volume fraction (Vf) of greater than 10% in a reaction-sintered ceramic matrix. It is further preferred that the composite material be provided on a surface thereof with a coat layer composed solely of a ceramics and having a thickness of not less than 50 &mgr;m.

Ceramic fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composite material and method of producing the same

Disclosed is a card connector assembly comprising a shell assembly having upper and lower shells for accommodating a memory device in the form of a card, and a pin connector assembly including an insulating housing having signal pins mounted therein with connection pins adapted to be received in the memory device inserted in the associated shell. The pin connector assembly is a unitary molded housing having an upper and lower rows of signal terminals adapted to be soldered directly to a printed circuit board in a single soldering step. The shell assembly is adapted to be assembled to the pin connector assembly by way of interengaging slots and corresponding shell parts.

Card connector assembly

Disclosed is a card connector comprising a double-deck shell assembly having upper and lower shell compartments for accommodating memory devices in the form of cards, and a pin connector assembly having connection pins adapted to be received in receptacles of each memory device inserted in the associated shell compartment. The pin connector assembly is adapted to be soldered directly to a printed circuit board, and the shell assembly is adapted to be assembled to the connector assembly thus fixed on the printed circuit board. Also disclosed is an assembly method for such a card connector.

Disclosed is an improved card connector comprising a shell assembly and a pin connector assembly. The pin connector assembly includes an insulating housing mounting upper and lower rows of signal terminals and an upper and lower grounding terminal. The signal terminals include connection pins arranged in upper and lower rows and solder tails for connecting to an underlying printed circuit board. The upper grounding terminal includes a downwardly extending rear wall having window apertures formed therein. The upper rows of signal pins pass through the window apertures without contacting the grounding terminal and terminate at the solder tails. The upper and lower grounding terminals are electrically coupled, and a single row of DIP-type solder tails extending from the lower grounding terminals can be soldered to selected conductors on a printed circuit board to couple both of the grounding terminals to a ground circuit of the printed circuit board.

Card connector with improved grounding terminal

Disclosed is an improved card connector comprising a shell assembly and a pin connector assembly. The pin connector assembly includes an insulating housing having a plurality of signal terminals and grounding terminals mounted therein. Connection pins of the signal terminals are arranged in upper and lower rows in the insulating housing. The grounding terminals are arranged parallel to the connection pins at upper and lower levels. The upper and lower grounding terminals are electrically coupled by way of coupling contacts, and a single row of DIP-type solder tails extending from the lower grounding terminals can be soldered to selected conductors on a printed circuit board to couple both grounding terminals to the ground circuit of the circuit board.

Ground-enhanced electrical connector

An improved electrical connector assembly for mounting to a printed circuit board (6) and for receiving a PC card. The electrical connector assembly includes a housing (3) having signal terminals (1) and ground terminals (2), wherein the tail portions (11) of the signal terminals are of surface mount type and the tail portions (21) of the ground terminals are of through-hole type. The tail portions of the ground terminals extend in at least one row toward the circuit board between the tail portions of the signal terminals and the rear end of the housing. In this configuration, the signal terminal tail portions and the ground terminal tail portions can be simultaneously soldered and all of the solder joints can be inspected without obstruction, the surface mount solder joints inspected from an upper surface (7) of the circuit board and the through-hole solder joints can be inspected from a lower surface (8) of the circuit board. The ground terminals, in the form of a unitary ground shield, are positioned on an upper surface of the housing (3).

Connector assembly having signal and ground terminals

Disclosed is an improved method of forming a two-storied type of PC card connector assembly. It comprises the steps of: attaching one card connector to one side of a printed circuit board; soldering the soldering tails of the signal terminals to the signal circuit pattern formed on the one side of the printed circuit board, and the soldering tails of the ground terminals to the through-holes made in the printed circuit board; attaching the other card connector to the other side of the printed circuit board (no ground terminal piece attached thereto); soldering the soldering tails of the signal terminals to the circuit pattern formed on the other side of the printed circuit board; press-fitting a separate ground terminal piece in the other card connector; and soldering the soldering tails of the ground terminal piece to the ground circuit pattern formed on the other side of the printed circuit board.
