A polygon mirror that can be manufactured at low cost and high productivity and a method of manufacturing the same, a polygon mirror that can be manufactured at low cost and presents little variations in reflectance in a wide range of angles of incident, an optical scanner and electrophotographic equipment that are less expensive and compact is provided. The polygon mirror has a single layer film formed of a substance having an index of reflection of 1.45 or below on the reflecting surface. The method of manufacturing the prism shaped polygon mirror having a film on the reflecting surface comprises a step of application for applying a solution containing a substance for forming a film on the reflecting surface, and a step of forming a coated film of the solution on the reflecting surface by rotating the polygon mirror, and the solution is applied only in the area of which the distance from the axis of rotation of the polygon mirror is at least Ri in the application step, where Ri is the minimum distance between the reflecting surface and the axis of rotation. The polygon mirror preferably has a film having the distribution of film thickness on the reflecting surface. Such a polygon mirror is included in the optical scanner and electrophotographic equipment.

A high-reflectance silver mirror has a high-reflectance film comprising a silver layer formed on a base material made of phosphorus-containing glass. The high-reflectance film is formed by a wet film-forming process on an acid-resistant protection film covering the base material. A reflecting optical element employing the high-reflectance silver mirror, and a process for producing the high-reflectance silver mirror are also provided. The high-reflectance silver mirror is producible at a reduced cost and has improved reflectivity.

The present invention provides a reflective optical element being excellent in reflectivity and transmittance having a metallic thin film being excellent in durability and abrasion resistance wherein, in the reflective optical element in which light impinges in the transparent substrate and projects out after repeating reflection on the back plane, the reflection plane is formed by laminating the transparent substrate, metallic thin film and amorphous fluorocarbon resin in this order while forming a layer of the amorphous fluorocarbon resin on the incident and projection planes simultaneously with forming the layer on the outermost layer to allow durability and abrasion resistance to be improved with the amorphous fluorocarbon resin on the reflection plane, silver being deposited on the metallic layer by electroless plating in depositing the films while the amorphous fluorocarbon resin being preferably deposited by a wet film-deposition method such as a dip-coating method.

A toner fixation film has an exothermic layer within which an eddy current is induced with application of a magnetic field and then heat is generated. The exothermic layer is a composite layer in which an exothermic part and resin part coexist. The toner fixation film can offer a sufficient heat generation necessary for toner fixation, and has enough flexiblity to permit curvature separation. A toner fixation apparatus comprises the toner fixation film and at least one coil for producing an alternating magnetic field for eddy current induction.

The present invention provides a fluororesin-coated member having a fluororubber layer containing a fluororesin, and a fluororesin layer formed on the fluororubber layer. The fluororesin layer is a uniform layer formed by coating an aqueous fluororesin dispersion coating and burning it, and exhibits excellent surface smoothness and durability of adhesion to the fluororubber layer. A heat fixing belt having an electrically conductive layer in which an eddy current is produced by an alternating magnetic field applied from outside the belt thereby generating heat. The belt further includes toner release layer disposed on the surface of the fixing belt, the fixing belt being characterized in that the electrically conductive layer is an aluminum layer with a thickness less than 35 .mu.m, and having a rubber elastic layer between the aluminum layer and the toner release layer. The rubber elastic layer is disposed between the aluminum layer and the toner release layer making it possible to greatly reduce the time required to heat the fixing belt up to a predetermined temperature necessary for the fixing operation after the electric power is turned on. A fixing roller for thermally fixing an unfixed toner image is comprised of a core cylinder and a fluororesin tube fused on the core cylinder. The core cylinder is provided on its periphery with a minute groove means. On fusing the fluororesin tube on the core cylinder, the minute groove means gives to the surface of the fluororesin tube convexities or concavities extending in parallel in the peripheral direction of the fixing roller.
