The present invention relates to a process for producing a composite-fluoride fluorescent material represented by the general formula AMF:Mn(wherein A is at least one alkali metal element including K; M is one or more metallic elements including at least Si or Ge and selected from among Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr, and Hf; F is fluorine; and Mn is manganese). With the production process, it is possible to obtain a fluorescent material which is high in absorptance, internal quantum efficiency, and external quantum efficiency and has excellent optical properties.

Potassium fluoromanganate for use as raw material of manganese-activated complex fluoride phosphor and manganese-activated complex fluoride phosphor production method using same

Provided is a phosphor represented by the general formula: AMF:Mn. The elements A each represents an alkali metal element, the element M represents one or more tetravalent metallic elements selected from Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr and Hf. The phosphor has a minimal light absorption rate in a wavelength range of 300 nm or more and 350 nm or less of 67% or less, and a maximum light absorption rate in a wavelength range of 400 nm or more and 500 nm or less of 65% or more. The phosphor has a Mn content of 0.3% by mass or more and 1.5% by mass or less.

An Eu-activated Li-solid-solubilized &#x3b1;-SiAlON, having a lattice constant a of 0.7820 to 0.7835 nm, a lattice constant c of 0.5645 to 0.5670 nm, an oxygen content of 0.4 to 1.2 mass %, and an europium (Eu) content of 0.3 to 1.2 mass %, and emitting a light having a peak wavelength of 580 to 595 nm in the fluorescence spectrum obtained when it is excited by a monochromatic light having a peak wavelength in the range of 450 to 460 nm.

The present invention provides: a phosphor which can be combined with a blue LED to emit white light having a low color temperature as in the case where the phosphor is used singly, has a broad fluorescence spectrum, high light emission efficiency, and thermal/chemical stability, and rarely undergoes the deterioration in brightness at higher temperatures. This phosphor is represented by the general formula: Mx(Si,Al)2(N,O)3&#xb1;y (wherein M independently represent Li or at least one alkali earth metal element; and x and y fulfill the requirement represented by the formulae: 0.52&#x2266;x&#x2266;0.9 and 0&#x2266;y&#x2266;0.3) wherein some of M are substituted by element Ce, and wherein the Si/Al atomic ratio is 1.5 to 6 inclusive, the O/N atomic ratio is 0 to 0.1 inclusive, 5-50 mol % of M's is Li, and 0.5-10 mol % of M is Ce.
