A chlorosulphonated ethylene-&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer having a chlorine content of 0.5-20% by weight and a glass transition temperature in differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of &#x2212;50&#xb0; C. or lower and being crystalline. The chlorosulphonated ethylene-&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer is obtained by chlorinating a crystalline ethylene-&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer having a density of 890 kg/mor lower, obtained by copolymerizing &#x3b1;-olefin comprising a hydrocarbon having 4 or more carbon atoms, with ethylene, and then chlorosulphonating the chlorinated copolymer.

A chlorosulfonated ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer composition comprising a chlorosulfonated ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer, a thiuram compound, a bismaleimide compound, a nickel dialkyldithiocarbamate, and a diarylmonoamine compound, and a motorcar joint boot obtained by molding and vulcanizing the chlorosulfonated ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer composition. The copolymer composition is excellent in the tensile characteristics at room temperature and low temperature, in the compression set under a low-temperature atmosphere, and in the fatigue resistance.

Chlorosulfonated ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer composition

A chlorosulfonated polyethylene polymer composition is disclosed, comprising a chlorosulfonated polyethylene polymer having incorporated therein (a) from 0.1 to 20 parts by weight of a metal salt of an organic acid, (b) from 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of a phenylamine and/or a phenylenediamine, (c) from 1 to 30 parts by weight of an acid acceptor, and (d) from 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of a vulcanizing agent, per 100 parts by weight of the chlorosulfonated polyethylene polymer. The composition provides a vulcanized product excellent in ozone resistance as well as mechanical strength.
