A postprocessing apparatus stops and positions an image recording sheet delivered from an image forming apparatus at a predetermined position, punches the sheet with a punching unit, and thereafter folds the sheet with a folding unit.

Postprocessing apparatus with two or more finishing devices

The invention concerns a hole-punching processor that forms punched-holes, for binding sheets into a file, on the sheets, which are ejected after images are formed on them from an image forming apparatus such as, for example, a copying machine, a printer, a facsimile machine or a compound machine thereof. The hole-punching processor forms a punched-hole on a sheet residing in a conveying path for conveying the sheet through the hole-punching processor. The hole-punching processor includes a hole-punching device being movable in a direction perpendicular to a conveyance direction of the sheet and a sheet-edge detector to detect a side-edge of the sheet in a direction parallel to the conveyance direction of the sheet. The hole-punching device moves with the sheet-edge detector to a center of the sheet, based on positional information of the side-edge detected by the sheet-edge detector, to punch a hole in the sheet.

Hole-punching processor and image forming apparatus

A sheet folding apparatus having a Z-folding function which incluses a sheet conveyance device for conveying a paper sheet having an image formed thereon and a stopping member capable of moving for adjusting the position thereof provided in a conveyance path in order to stop a paper sheet conveyed by the sheet conveyance device at the leading edge colliding against the stopping member, and forms a fold by introducing the buckle portion of the paper sheet formed by the stopping member between a roller pair composed of two folding rollers and gripping by the rollers. The sheet folding apparatus is provided with a controller for temporarily reducing the rotating speed of each of the folding rollers, at a timing when the paper sheet is gripped between the roller pair.

A sheet finishing apparatus is provided with a sheet passage; a conveyor to covey a sheet along the sheet passage; an intermediate stacker on which the sheet conveyed along the sheet passage is placed so that a bundle of sheets is formed on the intermediate stacker; a finisher to conduct a finishing process for the bundle of sheets formed on the intermediate stacker; a sheet delivering section to which the bundle of sheets is delivered; and a sheet delivering device to true up edges of the bundle of sheets on the intermediate stacker before the finisher conducts the finishing process and to deliver the bundle of sheets from the intermediate stacker to the sheet delivering section after the finisher has conducted the finishing process.
