A controller includes: a detection unit that detects that a housing unit housing a recording medium has been inserted into an insertion slot for inserting the housing unit; a prediction unit that predicts a vibratory excitation time at which vibrations will occur based on a time detected by the detection unit; a determination unit that determines whether the vibrations will occur based on the vibratory excitation time during a period when an image-forming unit is forming an image on a recording medium supplied from a different supply source for recording media from the housing unit inserted into the insertion slot; and a control unit that controls the image-forming unit to prevent image formation if the determination unit determines that the vibrations will occur during a period when the image-forming unit is forming an image on the recording medium.

In a part life detection and display unit, the life of each periodically replaced part is detected and displayed separately based on the life alarm value and in addition, the part lives are detected and displayed in units of periodically replaced part groups each consisting of parts that are almost the same in life term value and can be replaced in batch at the same time, and all parts in the part group containing the part reaching the life alarm value are replaced at the same time.

An image recording apparatus comprises an image carrier (1); a latent image forming means (2); a plurality of developing means (3: 3a, 3b, 3c and 3d); a transfer drum (5) having a sheet holding surface (A); a transfer means (6); a sheet feed means (11); a sheet type discriminating means (12) for discriminating whether or not the surface rigidity of the recording sheet (4) stacked on the sheet feed means (11) is higher than the reference surface rigidity; a curl deforming means (14) arranged in a conveyance passage of the recording sheet (4) from the sheet feed means (11) to the transfer drum (5), for forcibly curling the recording sheet (4) in accordance with a radius of curvature of the transfer drum (5) when it is discriminated by the sheet type discriminating means (12) that the recording sheet (4) is highly rigid; a sheet holding control means (19) for holding the recording sheet (4) on the same sheet holding surface (A) of the transfer drum (5) irrespective of the result of discrimination conducted by the sheet type discriminating means (12); and an image forming process control means (16) for controlling the transfer of the toner image of each color from the image carrier (1) onto the recording sheet (4) held on the transfer drum (5).

Apparatus for holding recording sheets on an image recording apparatus

An image forming device, such as a color copying machine or a color printer, which processes an input image signal, thereby obtains an output image signal, and forms an output image on the basis of the output image signal. In the image forming device, an information input unit writes some information identifying the copying machine to an area in an information storing unit at the time when a power source is turned on for the copying machine for the first time after the assembly thereof. When the power source is turned on for a second and any subsequent times for the copying machine, the copying machine copies an original sheet in such a state of the machine that the information stored in the area of the information storing unit is added to the output image in the form of a pursuit image which it is hard or impossible to recognize with the human eyes.

Image forming device with forgery prevention

A diagnostics system that performs checking, adjustments and other services on a recording apparatus. The system includes an imaging unit having a CCD line sensor assembly, a first board for processing dot sequential color video signals from the CCD line sensor assembly to produce them as digital signals, a second board for converting the dot sequential color video signals from the first board into simultaneous color video signals and for performing shading correction, a third board for performing predetermined image processing on the output from the second board, a fourth board for receiving video signals branched from the third board at predetermined positions to perform predetermined edit processing on the received video signals which are returned to the third board, an image output terminal for receiving the output from the third board, a film projector for projecting a film image, and a user interface. The second board includes a CPU, which performs diagnosis or adjustments on the first through fourth boards and the film projector on the condition that predetermined procedures have been taken on the user interface.

An image data control system for use in an image reading equipment, in which analog signals output from a line sensor, which represent the amounts of light reflected from an original sheet are converted into digital signals by analog/digital conversion, and then the digital signals are converted into density signals to obtain original sheet reading signals in the form of the density signals, the system characterized in that offset control are performed by an offset control circuit and dark time output adjustment by the unit of picture elements are performed by a dark time correction circuit, respectively, after performing gain control by a gain control circuit.
