A shock-absorption steering apparatus is provided which is capable of absorbing impact with a simple structure independently on a driving condition. A support pin for controlling the squeezing load to an energy absorption plate corresponding to its rotation is provided with a retainer. A slider is also provided, which can or cannot abut the retainer by moving up and down along with the drive of a motor. When the body weight of a driver is a reference weight or more, the rotation of the support pin is restricted by driving the motor so as to allow the slider to abut the retainer. When the body weight is less than the reference weight, the support pin is enabled to rotate by driving the motor so as to separate the slider from the retainer.

Shock-absorption steering apparatus

A steering wheel position adjusting apparatus including a fixed tubular column, a movable tubular column movably mounted on the fixed tubular column, a lower rotational output steering shaft mounted within the fixed tubular column, and an upper rotational input steering shaft mounted within the movable tubular column and having upper and lower ends. The upper rotational steering shaft is connected at the upper end thereof to the manually operated steering wheel, and is connected at the lower end thereof to an upper end of the lower rotational steering shaft. The upper rotational steering shaft is movable with respect to the lower rotational steering shaft. An annular shaped ultrasonic motor is mounted on the outer periphery of the fixed column, the annular shaped ultrasonic motor being coaxial with the fixed tubular column and includes an output gear. A movable tubular column position adjusting device is provided for moving the movable tubular column relative to the fixed tubular column by actuation of the annular shaped ultrasonic motor. The movable column position adjusting device includes input gear engaged with the output gear of the annular shaped ultrasonic motor, an output connected to the movable tubular column and an arrangement operatively connecting the input gear and the output.

Steering wheel position adjusting apparatus for a vehicular steering

A return-m-neutral mechanism for a rear wheel steering device for an electronically controlled four wheel steering vehicle, in which a spring provided in the return-to-neutral mechanism does not come into operation within a predetermined steering angle range corresponding to the most frequent occurrences in actual application, thereby achieving energy saving and improving response characteristics. In the return-to-neutral mechanism for the rear wheel steering device for restoring the steered rear wheel to its neutral position under the biasing force of the spring, a dead zone corresponding to a predetermined steering angle of the rear wheels is provided for the spring.

Return-to-neutral mechanism of rear wheel steering device

An anti-lock brake system is arranged such that the recirculation line from the overflow reservoir feeds into one of the brake lines downstream of the lines dividing point. A constriction, which may take the form of a simple nozzle is positioned between the recirculation line junction and the brake line dividing point for reducing the coupling of pressure fluctuations between the brake lines when the anti-lock system is actuated. With this arrangement, even upon the occurrence of sharp pressure fluctuations in one of the brake lines due to actuation of the anti-lock function, the pressure of the other brake line is not affected thereby allowing proper controlled braking in each wheel.

Wheel braking control apparatus for reducing pressure fluctuations

A fluid pressure circuit is provided in which two independent systems are provided with a pressure generator for supplying pressure through each of the circuits so as to operate the brake system of a vehicle in an antiskid mode. The fluid pressure circuits have a phase difference of a half a period with respect to each other so as to provide for a continuous pressure to each of the brake systems of the independent fluid pressure systems. By providing such an arrangement, pulsation effects of each independent system are reduced without adversely influencing the pressure generator apparatus and while decreasing the noise associated with the operation of the fluid pressure system under such operating conditions.
