Vane pump

The flow control device comprises a supply passage () for supplying hydraulic fluid discharged by a pump () to a power steering output section (); a variable throttle section () situated at an intermediate position of the supply passage (); and a flow control valve () for returning the hydraulic fluid in the supply passage () to the pump inlet side, in accordance with a pressure differential between upstream and downstream of the variable throttle section (). When the pump () is halted, the flow control valve () is impelled by a spring () and closes the variable throttle section (). A throttle passage () is provided for connecting the upstream side and the downstream side of the variable throttle section with the supply passage ().

Flow control for power steering

A spool bore () where a spool () slides, a concave portion () opened to the spool bore () and facing a return portopened to the spool bore (), and a land portion () disposed in an outer periphery of the spool () are provided. A width of the concave portion () and a width of the return port () each are greater than a width of the land portion () and a groove bottom () of the concave portion () is formed to be a flat plane generally in proportion to an axis line of the spool ().

Flow control valve

A steering speed-computing section () to differentiate a steering angle of a steering wheel from a steering angle sensor () to compute the steering speed signal, a low-pass filter () to cut high frequency components in the steering speed signal to output a correction steering speed signal, a switching section () to switch the cut-off frequency in the low-pass filter to be higher at the time of determining a high-speed steering condition, and a flow quantity-computing section () to compute a target flow quantity supplied to a power steering output section () based on the steering angle signal and the correction steering speed signal are provided to control a flow quantity of an operating oil supplied to the power steering output section () for the target flow quantity.
